Mamie always did all her own singing... I think she was meant to sound "grating" on this one- just the style of the song within the context of the movie. But I agree, her voice is very "grating" here.

I've never thought of Paul Anka as a very talented songwriter, but this simple little R&B ditty is actually one of his better songs.
