our six year old son was just diagnosed last year with asperger's syndrome, he is considered "high functioning" with certain autistic tendencies. i can honestly say that after reading john elder's book i've seen so much of my son in his stories and has helped me better understand him in some way. i agree with mctrlsys, eye contact is a tricky thing. even as a "normal" adult there are things that make us uncomfortable and therefore we avoid eye contact.
They want eye contact? Give 'em eye contact!

Trust me. I am an Aspie and despite the fact that I am considered high-functioning, eye contact is always a tricky thing.
