If only MTV and all the other music channel were like this one.. The world would certainly be a better one.. Instead of sex and drugs it will be Study, Get perfect and rock n roll. :-)
@Martintehman Yes, but that bass looks like an hybrid !! Volume and tone controls are on the lower part of the body, like lefthand instruments , but he change strings order mounting the 1st E string on top position (often because lefthand people learn to play with standard instruments but...upside down !) For sure he had to flip bridge parts to meet different strings thickness... crazy guy ! :D
@Logantheburninator - yeah, guess when he started out no one told him you could buy a left handed bass, or even rig one up by setting it up with reversed strings! Must have been a challenge for his teacher if he's classicly trained!!!
I promise Jimmy Haslip's pocket in this song is just so perfect....and as I'm typing this the song gets cut off by the dumb commercial. Son-of-a-b!!!! But the four notes he's staying on are just......just so..........it puts you in a jazzy trance man. 5 stars for the entire vid.
That percussionist from food network, was a member of the great Grover Washingtons' band for 15 years. Doc Gibbs is one of the most respected musicians in music, especially jazz.

@lousarh Not sure about the bridge, but he'd certainly have to flip the nut - awesome player.

Too funny, guys. Try looking at your right-handed bass in the mirror and see if it doesn't look exactly like Jimmy's.

When great musicians play 'free' you'd never know it was, free that is. What a session!
