But damn, when he was on, I've never seen a Notre Dame quarterback throw as well as he could. He could put it on the money from distance. Just see Golden Tate's TD catch against USC in '09. Tate gets credit for hanging in while Taylor Mays went for his head, but Clausen put it in the only spot Tate could catch it.

I couldn't agree more. The reason Weis has had the two worst seasons in history is because he didn't inherit talented underclassmen. When 07' came around, he started from scratch. And people aren't realizing that....sure, we had two bad years, but in those two years, all the touchdowns were scored by underclassmen. If you take an honest look at the TALENT on this team, you can only conclude that Weis is the problem. This team has to be the biggest under acheivers in all of College football. Looking at their schedule this year, they are catching USC a little weaker than usual and should be prohibitive favorites in all 11 other games on paper.

To me, anything less than 11-1 means Weis needs to be fired. Meyer would go 13-0 with this team.

Meyer would have to recruit players to fit his spread offense. This team was built by weis for a pro style offense not a spread offense. ND has no QB on its roster that can run Meyer's spread. If Meyer was somehow hired by ND next year, I predict that Dayne Crist would transfer and Clausen would enter the NFL draft. I'm a big ND fan and I think a major bowl game is in the cards this year. I predict ND going 10-2.

Notre Dame football is one of the easiest things on the planet to hate, but let's all step back here and talk objectively. Is ND top to bottom as good as SC, UF, UT ect? NO. Top to bottom, 1-88 they are not. However, from 1-25 they are! Those guys have some kids that can really play ball, they just haven't really had much dept since Holtz. That is going to be a football team next year that is capable of beating anyone on any given day, in my opinion. Their starters are very good talent wise.

I can't really argue with Corso, as much as I would like to. But Clausen showed in the Hawaii game that he has the capability to do great things. No doubt he has the arm, but against the SC's of the world, the entire team was way overmatched. I don't think its entirely fair to hang that on JC. OL was terrible, no run game, the defense ignored any play action, blizted like crazy, and when receivers can't get open, then the whole thinkg falls apart....

I've only missed six or seven ND home games the last 12 years and after what I've seen this last year it may take 12 more for ND to get back on top. The ND offensive line cannot run block. Weis and the O-line coach are responsible. The running backs don't seem to have "vision" to find an opening if the designed play isn't going to work. Which is most of the time. Clausen may have had a great bowl game, but after the North Carolina game the kid really sucked. D-line gets no pressure on the qb.
