  • This reminds me of A Tale of Two Sisters, a Korean Horror movie (2003), remade into the American version called The Uninvited. Same sister kind of theme. Really good video though.

  • I do believe the game was hide and seek, not tag. But nice video anyway

  • That's sad : ( I don't know what I'd do if I lost my brother. When you lose a sibling, it's a lot like being torn apart. I wouldn't know how to react in a situation like that. It was a very good short, but very sad.

  • WOW

  • i saw this 2 years ago and it made me cry ive been looking for it since then i saw a vid made by a dif person and i found it

  • no one knows how Erin died. I was in this video and i don't even know. It just happened. Showing a child's view of death. By the way, Erin is Katie's sister, to anyone who thought she was her friend.

  • wow! this is gr8 film i mean so sad but great i dont know how somone wouldnt like it!

  • I'm sorry, but this just isn't very good.

It needs a number of things:

    Good acting.

    Cinematic filters.

    Better lighting.

    An original storyline.

There are so many stories with this same idea. Me and Emma, Invisible, the end is almost the same as my girl.

  • It's a student film I believe.

  • well done. very sad, but amazingly done.

What happened to the girl in the end when she closed the closet door? And did her sister die because she was in the closet??

  • it made me cry. so well done.

  • I really enjoyed your short. Great story idea but I didn't like the car scene when they were leaving the house to go to the church. I didn't really feel like they went anywhere, maybe you should have an empty street and then the car comes in to the scene rather than have the car driving then stop all of a sudden. I cant explain it better but you probably get what i mean.

  • Very well done, thanks alot :)

  • I didn't know what was going on until I saw the coffin :'( very well done.

  • T_T

it made me feel sad.. such a nice film.. T_T

  • At 2:18 I was crying!

    This was wonderfully made.

  • I have watched this til 4:11 and I have something to say before I continue watching this: I am guessing or feeling that the girl (the tall one) with the black jacket is imaginary, she is just in the little girls head.. let's see if that is true...

  • Yes, it was a true statement. The girl was dead... oh my God, so sad..

  • Sarcastically? I just wanted to make sure.

  • No, absolutely not sarcasticallt!

  • how did erin die?

  • Aaaaw that was so sweet and sad D:

  • wow this film i can relate to. it actaully made me cry cuz of memories. good film.

  • wow... thats a confusing flim.. i dont get it..

    anybody care to explain??

  • the whole beginning (everything before katie sees anna in the coffin) is katie imagining anna playing w/ her. she's already dead in the beginning. get it?

  • umm i get that part but like at the end when katie goes in the closest and closes the door..?

thats the part that i dont get lol

  • Perhaps she's hiding from reality. At the beginning she didn't want to remember. This is another way of doing so.

  • Or upon further thinking, she's waiting for Erin to come tag her, since Erin is "sleeping."

  • Because when the door is open she cant hide and Erin will find her. In her world shes still playing hide and seek

  • in the beginning everyone is alive, then erin dies and we come back the day of her funeral. katie is hiding in the closet because that is where erin hid when they played hide and seek.

  • how....did Erin die?

  • knew the end before it started, lol

  • I wasn't a huge fan of how this was filmed. It looks too much like a soap opera. If that's what they were going for, then they nailed it, but I didn't quite get the same feeling I do with some other VFS films; others feel much more cinematic. Good story, though.

  • this is a cool zombie movie

  • i do not get this video and is the film school acting or like directing and shooting?

  • good film. that said, has anyone else noticed that many VFS films have sketchy sound quality? Are they not using industry standard mics?? i can barely hear and when i can it makes the films seem home videoish and takes away from the cinematic quality that is almost reached in other areas.

  • Omg,

    Thats so sad.

    ;[

    Plus that mom is rude

  • how is the mom rude??

  • this movie scared the s***t out of me...

  • I didn't like how the mother said exactly what a mother in a bad movie is supposed to say.

  • Now that was really not very surprising. Still nice work.

  • omg! great job!

  • it was her sister. They had the same hair style and sat at the same breakfast table and the parents were involved in the game. And in the car her older sister is buckling her up. And like only a sister can, when Katie is woken by her mother, her sister wiggles her fingers in her ears in the doorway.

  • Erin should have come back in her dream and said, "Tag!" and run away laughing, and leaving her behind. That would have been even more moving.

    I almost cried. I'm such a sap.

  • THis video affected me so much. It's something everyone can relate to.

  • i liked it, even though it was sad :(. just oone thing, was anna her sister or friend?

  • i think its erin

and im quite sure it was her sister. i wish i knew how she died...

very sad, but very good; i agree

  • wait im kinda confused ...how did the little girl die??and this is really sad

  • i liked it... but theres an awkward air to it... i noticed that similar air in a couple of vfs films. i wonder if they teach it to them in that way. or they all adapted to that type of flavour. err its intangible can't really explain.

  • i sensed it too, i guess that what makes VFS films unique and great.

  • i liked it.

  • Great job! But its so sad! :(

  • My friend passed away last year from cancer she was just 11, this video is so sad

  • the dad has such an amazing accent.

when i become a father i need to have a strong american accent, it would be awesome

i know these films from the college are supposed to be short but if it were longer i may be more attached to it, i didnt really feel anything till the girl shut herself in the cuboard, that was really good

  • how did the girl die?

  • How doesn't matter. Peace.

  • That was so sad... :( It was so good! I don't understand, so the girl fell asleep while playing tag, and then she slept long enough for her friend to die. When the girl came to her friend's funeral, she was dead. And that's it?

  • i think the game of "hide and seek" was a dream at the beginning. she just woke up on the funeral day. but how do you forget that your friend is dead?

  • just the plain shock of that at shuch a young age was probly very VERY hard, I doubt that she wanted to rember her friend was dead. I wouldnt.

  • my last coment was a reply to someone elses

  • i think the game of "hide and seek" was a dream at the beginning. she just woke up on the funeral day. but how do you forget that your friend is dead?

  • maybe just an illusion from shock that your friend has died would send you into a false state of believing their death wasnt real?

    or something

  • it's a child's understanding of death

  • uh, it was ok, like a underfunded 6th sense

  • Nice work , thanks

  • that was so sad and well acted.

  • That was really sad.

  • great job on the movie, this was rly touching and beatiful...

  • Brilliant! Nice!

What a good film! Good Job VFS's guys.

    Good luck!

  • I nearly cried. It's beautifully directed. :] By the way, the little girl who played Katie was really pretty. I don't mean that in a weird way or anything. xD

  • really beatifull

  • nice!

    btw:

how do you get the "more from: vancouverFilmSchool"-column open ?

i cant find it in the options.

    ty

  • i am crying!!!

  • i think erin died due to suffocation. coz they were playing tag on that day katie was wearing red and erin was wearing that blue dress. she must have hidden in that closet where katie was sleeping. that's why the mom opened the door. erin must have hidden somewhere and was found too late. there was a real life story i saw before on the telly where two girls decided to sleep inside the filing cabinets and they died. they were found hours after they already suffocated.

  • i don't think so...i think Katie was dreaming when they were playing tag. SO nobody knows how erin died.

  • Not very original. It was like watching The 6th sense. But keep practising.

  • yup. predictable. stiff acting. its not that bad tho.

  • That was amazing (I know everyone says that) Its very professional and it looks great. The story is fantastic and quite sad, but VFS and Lisa Whitten did a top notch job. More PLEASE :)

  • bravo!

  • vfs rocks

  • wow!!!! i cried!!! i relly do! I would like to know the whole story, I mean, how did she died and everything...

  • same

  • MEE TOO !

  • that was so sad...

does anyone know what exactly caused erin to die?

  • will you please go die in a hole? I mean if you have your head stuck so flipping far up you ass to relize moving this is then you need some flipping help.

  • Well done! Well done!

  • gr8

  • Very well done!

  • at first u think she has an imaginary friend and it take awhile to understand what really happens.. but it's really good and it made me cry.. especially at the part where she finds Ann.

  • I cried, it was a great short. poor Katie, I'll play tag with you :D

  • nice short

  • how the hell did she die????

  • Well, concidering it was made from someone still in film school, I'd say it was really good.

  • This could have been done better. The transitions between scenes were a bit sloppy, especially the car scene for example, driving away and then parking within 2 seconds? A younger child might have been more convincing and given a stronger effect, and the ending felt weak. It's a good idea, however.

  • nice feed back

  • I still say I'd love to see this as a full length feature. :)

  • esta bien loco carnal

  • she it's join to angel ... love this film :'(

  • please please wake up... so sad ._.

  • so sad. Very well done.

  • BORING!!!

  • ... :( ...

  • I dunno, the only problem that I have with this is that the girl playing the part seemed too old for that kind of reaction. I mean, I can see it from a five year old... but the girl's about seven, eight? Especially with the coffin scene.

  • I tjought that in the dream, Erin should be the one who's hiding, and Katie should have been looking for her.

  • she was simply dreaming that she was playing again.

  • im so sad now...........

  • that was like sooo sad. i didn't get it at first because they were playing tag and then the alive one was asleep. but that was really sad!

  • wow that hit a nerve i cant really relate to the girl katie cuz ive never lost a sibling but i have lost a child and i know the hurt the parents must be going through

  • hey the mum in this movie looks alot like my lecturer Dr Gill Venn from Kingston Uni PRMB. anyways. I really like my lecturer, she is a nice person....

  • omg this is really depressing stuff like this really gets to me

  • the film is about 2 sisters, one died, but the other one sees her in her fantasy

When shes by the chest she realised her sister was just a fantasy.. her sister is dead.

  • i DONT GET IT! some one please tell m,e what this means

  • SO good.

  • depressing... but so good

  • ya that was prettie sad.

  • That was so sad. It's really good though.

  • i was laughing cause i tho theired be a twist and she would jump up form the dead and yell ur it lmao

  • this is sad...

  • this is so good :'(

  • This is so sad T_T

  • This Brecks my heart so sad T_T

  • that kid was fucking numb :p

  • desolee moi c frenchy :)

au debut décue d'avoir trop tot "compris" que l'enfant était morte, mais totalement reconquise par la suite..

quel dommage qu'elle ait fermé la porte..

    Super taf, Merci ..

  • That was so sad. Brilliant job.

  • Not bad. Keep learning!

  • omg, that's so sad. now I wonder if kids really do undestand the concept of death..

  • i mean... what? that's not even how you play tag!

  • Hide and go seek tag

  • just PERFECT! but sad!

  • this is really sad!!!!!!!

  • this is so good

  • pretty good, be more amazing to show more flashbacks about how her sister died.

  • i love the way she loves her sister like that and i thought it was just so cute... OMG depressing often heh heh

  • Excellent script, screenplay, camera movements etc.

Acting - fake crying/grief and when the dad says "Come on katie lets go" Acting needs to be done way better.

  • Ghosts don't exist. Katie was merely imagining that her sister was still alive.

  • Lisa has a lot of talent, and I hope she moves on to bigger things with this.

  • i think she's not in denial, she's just playing with her sister in spirit

  • how do you understand the coffin scene without denial. your words "just playing with her sister in spirit" are very true with or without denial.

  • good, but the foreshadowing was overdone. you understand that the sister is dead the instant you see the mother wake the girl up. that part needs to be more subtle, and then the rest of the foreshadowing will work to provide that little twist.

  • Indeed, it coudlve been done better. But hey thats why were studying ;)

  • I agree But it is a good peice, it just needs a few revisions

  • That was really well done :), amazing piece of work

  • wow, thats so amazingly beautiful :''(

  • This was so cliché it made my toes curl.

    "She's asleep"

"When's she going to wake up?"

    Give me a break.

    Fucking Media Students.

  • try the truth. if you had told the truth your comment would have been " i am a heartless soulless troll who cannot understand a sensitive film.

  • then why the fuck do you post this shit?

    screw you.

  • aww........... =[

  • WOW...

yup that about sums it up.

  • it made me cry - just a little...

  • absolutely beautiful piece of work!

  • I don't think it's confusing in the slightest. It's remarkably simple, but at the same time it's captured the essence of confusion in a young mind.

This is an utterly beautiful piece - and it goes to show that you don't need millions to make a story that can touch you.

  • Utterly beautiful piece is, in my opinion, overrated. Honestly, I've seen this plot so many times before, and the acting could have been better.

Plus, saying that you enjoy a piece simply because it makes you look smart is somewhat ridiculous if you ask me.

Oh god, I already feel those -1's coming, even if I'm not a troll. People merely cannot accept negative comments nowadays.

  • its not supposed to show how she died it just showed that her and that girl were good friends maybe it was a flash back or something and it just showed her going to her funeral it was good but sad

  • It was really confusing.. and I agree with nabmab

  • katie is in denial. denial is what humans do when they are not ready to accept death. the parents know she is in denial and are helpless to reach her. the predictability of the plot allows us to understand the denial right away and it allows us to identify with katie. to feel what she is feeling or will soon feel.

  • Oh... I see. Then this video lacks originality, to be honest. This theme is way too overused and the use of children is kinda stereotyped in my opinion. I mean... I see similar videos all the time which communicate the exact same theme. No offence. There could have been better actors too, but this wasn't very bad. It's not that bad, really, but I've seen way better before ^^

  • how did she die

  • so wait.... what happened 2 the other little girl how did she die ????? i am sooooo confused !!!!!

  • it's not important how she died. we don't know how she died. it is important to understand katie the live girl is in denial. denial is what a person does when they are unable to accept death. we see the dead girl only in katie's dream and imagination. the parents know she is in denial but are unable to reach her.

  • that was so sad.

  • yes I really think it is good - best of luck!

  • Incredibly touching, reminded me of similar personal experience. Well done Lisa, no doubt we will be seeing more of your work. What a gift you have!

  • very sad....

  • it was a little confusing but i really liked it

  • Looked like they drove about 5 ft...

other than that, really good for a student and short film. 4 stars. =]

  • Cute concept, but the acting wasn't great, and because of this, it wasn't believable, and thus, didn't connect emotionally. The audio was distracting and the levels seemed off between dialogue and background noise. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was bad, but due to the awkward acting and the predictable and poorly written script paired with the really nice photography and colour, I think it's completely mediocre. Nothing special. Oh well.

  • wow... i feel sry for the kid she imaged her next to her the all time then baam i feel really sry for her sad.

  • Original thoguhts - lame

But now I understand it I realise it's pretty darn good! Well done, love the beginning style credits.

  • very good, a bit sad tho

  • that is absolutely amasing

everyone who says this is 'lame' is completely blinf

    that was a masterpeice.

i hope one day i can direct like that

  • babe girl grrr i hate wen people say that amercans are so lame

  • That was pretty good. a little predictable but i did like it.
