Once he left Purple in late '74-early '75 he just wanted to have a band where he was the unquestioned leader, hence Rainbow where he was the only constant. Rainbow never recorded two studio albums with the same personnel because Ritchie is moody (for lack of a better term) and constantly changed band members. He STILL has his own band (with his wife) at age 66, and is enjoying what he does...

I get so pissed when i hear people claim RJD was not a great musician is beyond me. This song is beyond epic. If you had seen him live in the late 70's early 80's, he was unreal. There is no other singer that has his range and harmony. True Genius. He still was awesome with Black Sabbath and Heaven and Hell.... but this period, both Dio and Blackmore were at their prime. RIP Dio.
