What makes Northug special:

1. Very good skiing technique, excellent shape

2. Extremely good at man v man

3. Very strong tactician, he is able to hang and retain enough power for a powerful final sprint.

The true test of endurance is Vasaloppet (90 km classic), few norwegians have won that over the years, though many have tried.

50K Vancouver, Teichmann tries to take a page from Northugs book, putting a little distance on the last climb, but not enough to fend off Petter. All skied well (including Southam). Hard to believe the human body can store that much energy and then expend it all in 2 hrs.

He started 37,5 seconds after 1-3 place. Skied in 37,5 seconds but burned too much to catch the Swede which was fresh and burned off when Nordthug was closing in. Nordthug won Norway a silver medal. No one else in the world could've saved Norway a medal coming from behind almost 40 seconds.

Swede deserved the win though. They had the better team overall and that's what relay is all about even though Nordthug almost won it by himself.

Ja det er ganske merklig at han går så sykt mye bedre og fortere enn alle andre å stopper opp, tar med seg et flagg og puster helt normalt og går i mål som om han har gått seg en tur i skogen og alle andre detter ned i mål helt utslitte.

I'm Norwegian and I disagree with that list... Bauer should be number 2 on that list... Northug only beats him because he is much better in the sprint disiplines. Hafsås shouldn't be anywhere near that list if doesn't get in better shape soon. And Sundby is not better than Teichmann.

På grunnlag av at han slo en nordmann? Northug hadde en helt forferdelig dag i alpintbakken. Bauer gikk ikke mye fortere en Dario Cologna eller flere av de andre.

Og hvis du sikter til 20 km klassisk så er det heller ikke så overraskende at Northug som mangler enormt mye når det gjelder alt utenom staking blir slått av verdens beste klassisk løper.

Det er mange andre løpere enn Bauer jeg tenker på når det gjelder doping.

Also Petter is much better in mass start than in individual start. The thing is mass start is more about competitive spirit which is what Northug does best (incredible final sprint). Individual start is different, basically youre alone in the woods and it's much harder to hang- which is why individual start demands more endurance.
