is that realy 1000hp to the ground or does the dyno computer factor in the transmission drivshaft and rearend to give a flywheel rating? b/c shit 1000 hp to the ground u b doin it baby cluck cluck chiken truk
by the time we pulled the motor and painted it and put the cam and injectors in about $40,000 Ive been at MATS and gettin ready for that so when i get a little time ill post some vids of dyno runs and the finished product.
Ever thought of running it on liquid petroleum gas, you will pick up another 20% more power and better fuel economy. I have it working on series 60 here in Australia, it is mixing around 20% gas to diesel ratio. You would be amazed at how easy it is to install, The gas maximises the cylinder burn and this is where the extra horsepower comes from.
Im keen to get extra HP for my daily hillclimb home...wish I thought more n did some mods when It was rebuilt a few months ago... so love for ya to show me mate.
no thats what it was doin at the wheels, its doin alot more now i had an 3000 ft lb clutch made for it and that lasted about 5 minutes so im having a 5000 ft lb clutch made and that should hold
I meant that 1250 at flywheel and 1000 at wheels, that's about 20% loss. I think US truck clutches are weak because they are usually unassisted. Once lost airpressure on Iveco Turbostar, couldn't press clutchpedal even if I standed on pedal with all my 90 kg.
it all depends on how you drive if you set your cruise and dont abuse it you an pik up fuel milage, if you always have your foot in and out of it you wont gain any, when i drive this truck on the cruise it picks up 2mpg put if im hotrodn it it loses and its putting out 1500 hp now
before the bigger injectors and bigger cam it made about 60 lbs of boost, so im not sure yet what it is going to do. im going to reassemble and stuff it today and should have some new dyno runs by this weekend. ill let you know what the end hp, torque, and boost are.
my grandfather was a railroad engineer and he said that the big diesels are around 6ooohp but that those engines power electric motors that turn the wheels eliminating the need for a transmission and having the same torque from 0 to whatever rpm. he told me that a long time ago so i don't know how well i remembered it.

So you are using 20% drivetrain loss? Usually it's only 10-12%, max 15.

How much torque/effort does a train diesel electric motor have? I saw a 2 engine set up pulling 120 cars yesterday.
cooksta3276 3 years ago
my grandfather was a railroad engineer and he said that the big diesels are around 6ooohp but that those engines power electric motors that turn the wheels eliminating the need for a transmission and having the same torque from 0 to whatever rpm. he told me that a long time ago so i don't know how well i remembered it.

What is the application for this much muscle?
cooksta3276 3 years ago
well you apply the pedal to the floor and pass everything on the hill, as for the trains i dont have any idea trucks are what i do
lizardtaimer 3 years ago
i should have the motor in back in by the end of the week with more mods and more runs on a bigger dyno
