  • i could listen to this guy all day, one of my favorite guitar players, he takes blues to a whole new level.

  • I always thought Blues and Richie (Kotzen) were very similar in that they both had such nice flowing legato mixed with an incredibly bluesy feel. Maybe this is why they were both in Poison one right after another? who knows but two awesome guitarists none the less.

  • I like this guys style of playing. It got some feel and cool to it not just mindless shred.

  • Saraceno has always been one of the real great guitarists, although he was not so technically minded as many others. But his "feel" and execution was flawless.

  • The phrasing is amazing!

    He is a true master.

  • hahaha i remember when this guy was in Poison for a little while.

  • @ShaneWreck

That's right, they chased him for ages, then I think after he realised what a car crash situation the band was, he split and then Ritchie Kotson joined and fucked the drummers mother or wife or something and got fired.

  • @chooseyourblues

    hahahaha thats HILARIOUS!

  • I fucking love this improv

  • didnt know howard stern played guitar

  • Why are you guys comparing blues to govan. Thats like comparing a ham sandwich to a chicken cordon blue! I like Saraceno alot BUT he is nowhere near in the same league as govan so it seems an utterly stupid comparison. BTW Blues sounds better than govan for straight ahead rock.

  • SICK VIBRATO!!!

  • Whenever I see comments on Govan on YT it is about how fast he is or how he can play circles around everyone. Yes, he has amazing technique, but that is SUCH a small part of him.

Listen to the music with your monitor off. How does it SOUND to you. I think Govan, hell all the guitar gods (barring a few arrogant cunts) want you to like their music, not their technique.

I really don't understand why you all compare who's the best musician when the question itself is unanswerable. They all rock!

  • they are different players. Guthrie Govan is an amazing player, but i just don't see the same originality and style in him as i see in Blues Saraceno or Nuno Bettencourt or John Petrucci or Satriani or Vai. Guthrie may be even more technical than all of them, but those guys are monsters not just because of their technique, but because of their unique style

  • Huh?! I mean, I'm listening to this video right now, and we're talking ULTRA generic, dime-a-dozen pentatonic riffs. Govan is one of a kind, this guy sounds like any reasonably talented guitar student after a few years. I can only assume you don't appreciate the difference because Govan's playing is too complex, and this simple stuff is easier for you to process.

  • Well, you can either assume that stupid conclusion or you could go and check everything tha Blues Saraceno plays, and notice that he plays a lot of modes and more complex and better sounding things than pentatonic (not that i don't like pentatonic). Govan is for sure an extremely talented and studied guy, but, as for style and sound, Blues is way ahead. And no, I do like complex stuff. Maybe it is easier for you to process complex stuff than simple stuff, and THAT'S something bad

  • @ReductioAdAbsurdum CHECK BRITNEY SPEARS ACAPELLAS ON YOU TUBE HER VOICE IS QUITE AMAZING , POP MUSIC HAS ITS PLACE MY WIFE LIKES 8OS MUSIC ..SHE SAID STUFF LIKE MARTY FRIEDMAN ISNT FOR MOST PEOPLE AND I GET IT .JASON BECKER LOVED BRITNEYS LAST ALBUM THIS ARGUMENT OVER PLAYERS ,JUST LISTEN TO WHATEVR YOU LIKE. I LIKE BOTH GOVAN AND BLUES FOR DIFFERENT REASONS AALLIYAH ALSO OPEN YOUR MIND TO ALL MUSIC .LATELY ITS BRAD PAISLEY CHECK HIM OUT .

  • @boostuse I think your keyboard is broken.

  • @ReductioAdAbsurdum Huh! I dont get it. I have a Triton and the jack is a little loose...... SOME PEOPLE will tell me they like someones music and Ill go check it out .lastnite I checked out Kenny Werner he teaches creativity in music .If your a critic then so be it ! Some get better from saying that sucks I dont like it ! its just that thats not very positive way to be in your life. I love guitar music but Ill listen to country for its influence .And Britneys well you know .

  • Well, saying which has better songs, that's a matter of taste, and I like Govan's songs, but like Blues' songs more. Don't get me wrong, Govan is an awesome player, and I love his playing, but I think Blues has a better style of his own His vibrato, tone, everything, I like it. Govan may be a lot better than Slash, but EVERYONE can know it's Slash when he's playing. And I'm not talking about Britney shit, but there's rock that's simple but cool, not everything has to be jazz or progressive

  • "And I'm not talking about Britney shit, but there's rock that's simple but cool, not everything has to be jazz or progressive"

I agree 100%. But Blues' phrasing just bores me to tears. He's got great tone and great chops, but nothing to really say with it, other than to run through rock cliches over and over. There are plenty of players with far less chops who are more exciting to listen to. Just my opinion.

Govan is a freakin' thrill ride, I wanna like this guy, but he just bores me.

  • that I can't argue. I he bores you, that's your thing, but you cna't say he's not a great guitarist. I like him a lot. But i also love Govan's playing, he's awesome, one of the most technical and melodic players I've ever heard

  • Reductio...

Brilliantly said, and I must agree 100%.

Saraceno's licks are not bad licks, just too damn unoriginal. It is like, "OK class, this is pentatonic 101."

Govan, on the other hand, is sorta a freak of nature. He is not near my favorite player, (that is probably Nuno), but still, his skills are over the top and extremely diverse.

I do like Saraceno, but he is rather a one trick poney, ...and not a very in depth one at that.

  • but the way he plays those unoriginal licks...is amazing. i dont think many guitarists could make those cheap licks sound as good as he can

  • His playing of those licks seems, "Amazing," to you? Reaaally?

Were you one of those people that was amazed when your uncle played, "Gotcha nose," when you were a kid?

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • Look, uncle Joey's gotcha nose!!!

  • i can already tell, your vibrato probably sounds like kirk hammet if you can't appreciate saraceno

  • Hey hey hey hey low effin' blow there guy!! I have feelin' dontcha know!!

  • @Lagomort He's not really a one trick pony...he just likes that style a lot. Sure, blues is a hamburger as opposed to a really good steak...but it's an extremely well done, gourmet hamburger. lol And there's a lot of art in that. Pentatonic 101...maybe. But he does it better than just about anyone I've ever heard....literally. Even better than Nuno...if that's possible. Sometimes and good hamburger tastes JUST right! lol

  • @Lagomort Oh...and don't forget about the tone. That's all him!

  • Not sure what you are hearing. The licks and tone are old and I have known those licks for effin' decades.

I still think he is a great player, but he really should try and get out of those old boxes...

  • @Lagomort Sure...you KNOW those licks. But, if you can play them with that much feel, style and cleanliness and tightness....then I would say that you are a great player, too. ; ) That's what I am hearing

  • @Lagomort And that's a cool tone no matter how you slice it. Especially considering that he's a "dime" that amp kinda guy and get all your tone from your fingers. No special rack gear here.

  • @Lagomort Lastly, it sounds like you are not familiar with some of his other work if you think he is nothing but pentatonic.

  • Still have no idea what you are hearing. The licks he's playin' are easy to play, and he is playing on a few basic variations upon them. There is nothing magical about the tone at all.

Also,..who the hell needs a rack?

  • @Lagomort You're wrong. ; )

  • @Lagomort And....I never said the tone was "magical". Your word...not mine. : )

  • @yngvaigilbsteen

Hm, since I have never tried to be famous, I am not so sure that means anything. Next, he is not by any stretch, "Famous." Brittney Spears,,,she is famous. Saraceno? Not even close.

Next, people do not get famous based on skill alone. Again, Brittney Spears anyone?

Finally, I do not play like Saraceno as his licks are too basic and unimaginative. I could play the licks he is playing, even if I was in a freakin' coma.

  • @Lagomort Are we back on this again? lol I'm not sure to which of my posts you're referring, but when did I ever say that Blues was "famous" and that it had any baring on anything. Also, I certainly never said that just because someone WAS famous, that it meant the they had musical talent. We all know that's not true and your Spears example is a perfect one. What I DO know is that Blues has good note choice and really does something with pentatonic. If you can play better, post a vid.

  • @Lagomort I,ve heard of Blues but who are you?

  • @Lagomort which explains why hes famous and successful and you arent.

  • i agree, but some guys do it better than others, seems like a timeless style for most

  • If you're gonna compare guthrie with someone, compare him to God, cause comparing him with mortal guitar players is a SIN!!!

  • Jimpy, if you take all of the two hand tapping out of Guthrie's music, he doesn't have a leg to stand on against Blues...There's no doubt Guthrie's an awesome player, but you're comparing apples and oranges. If you want somebody to compare Guthrie to, put him against Nuno Bettencourt and I guarantee you that Nuno sinks Guthrie six days a week and twice on Sundays.

  • What makes me wrong? Because you say so? I didn't say Guthrie sucked. He's a million times the player I'll ever be. I just think that apples to apples, Nuno's a far better player than Guthrie. I also think Blues is every bit the player Guthrie is.

  • hehehe i think you must laugh about people people that keeps comparing guitarists... They just can get out of kirk hammet or john petrucci... so, when they listen to some GUTHRIE... get stunned, and start talking shit about "he's better than blues, or satriani, or w/e"... jimpy's just full of shit...

  • Lol, Nuno isn't remotely in the same league as Guthrie.

  • Saying that Blues and Guthrie are two widely different players, and then comparing Guthrie to Nuno is kinda odd. If anything, you'd compare Blues to Nuno, and Guthrie to... I don't know, Christophe Godin or Shawn Lane.

  • i completely agree with you

  • People who post on youtube about established guitar greats and how much they suck are doing it from the comfort of their mother's basement. A true guitar player recognizes talent even if they don't like the genre of music. Guthrie would love to jam with Saraceno because he's a guitar player, unlike the below wanker who wants us to believe he's one. Go back to your Nintendo kid.

  • @Maxx61

    hahaha!

  • Break it up fellas! And learn whatever you can from every musician you are exposed to!

  • It,s flat out boring. No variation on the timing the note selectio..just right on the beat and colorless. Hey, if it was just some hack on youtube i'd say that's pretty good but come on..this guy was making instructional videos and gracing the cover of guitar mags.

  • You make some valid points. However, Blues is a great guitar player. Gotta minute?

  • hey jimpy.. where are your guitar vids? oh, that's right you don't have any..STFU

  • That's really terrible for someone who is highly heralded and making instructional videos. I would hate to sound like that. He must have woke up every day in the eighties in his heyday and thought.."am I really that good or is everyone just an idiot?' Unfortunately I think the latter is applicable here.

  • whats so terrible about it? great tone, awesome phrasing?

  • You'd hate to sound like this huh? More like you probably CANT sound like this!!!!!!!! Whose your favorite band asshole Nirvana?? Fuck your dead daddy!!!!!

  • You're the load your ugly mother should have swallowed you narrowminded idiotic cocksucker clean out your ears!! Check someone like Guthrie Govan and if you still feel the same way put a bullet in your head cause there's no hope for you.

  • I like Guthrie Govan idiot!!!!! Music isn't a contest there buddy!!!! How old are you anyway bubba?? My guess is around 16!!!!! Fuck teenagers like you you ignorant inbred cocksucking piece of shit!!!! Go fuck your mom and catch AIDS you billy boy bitch fag nigger!!!!!!!!!

  • I listened again just to make sure I wasn't mistaken..this guy sucks! And you suck harder! I,m 44 and could smoke this no talent feltcher. Now run along..I think I hear your mother calling you for her nightly ass-fucking!

  • i dont know why you are hate saraceno BUT i agree with you about govan......govan is WAY better than blues....

  • saying your 44 talking shit about blues the legend really sucks for humanity...go away.

  • well wheres your video of your skillz at then? Let us decide if your better then blues.

  • his parents should've named him Hairmetal instead of Blues. It would've fit his style more. There's no "blues" in Blues.

  • The amazing thing about blues is how he plays all these different solos and songs, but they all manage to sound like the same thing. huh...... Very great player and plays with a tone of feeling but still.... it all runs together

  • where can i get the full video?

  • I think 50% of being a good guitar player si being able to get a great tone out of your rig that also suits your playing style. There are few better than Saraceno. How many times have you seen great players with mediocre tone or vice versa?

  • seems kind of generic to me

  • he cant stop saying ´´ultimately´´ in this vid :)

  • its the famous table cloth guitar. i remember when people used to think this guy was something great.

  • Man, I could listen to this all day.

Amazing phrasing, that vibrato is wiiiide.

  • now thats an ugly guitar

  • Nobody cares what you like and nobody cares what I like either. Just like what you like and stop raping my eyes with shity comments. He's like 24 or 25 years old in this vid, not 17.

  • what the hell r you guys fusing about! Blues saraceno is a great musician and really know his stuff.. keep on pluckin'

  • Before you judge the dude, he was friggin' 17 when he recorded this. The guys a killer player. PERIOD.

  • subjulio your a prick.i normally wouldn't waste my time ,but this is an evaluation of the blues no hes not trying to be robert johnson.

  • Yet, on the other hand, yours is the best example of envy I've ever read from a self-effacing prick.

  • No fuckface, you keep getting your articles wrong too... ("a ignorant")... LOL, you're a goof, dude.

Put those guitar strings to good use and hang yourself. Patacca.

  • hey you stupid cretin, why dont you mind your own filthy crap, i know what i'm talkin about and i have no time to argue with you..craprapx2001 and myself is enough company.... three is a crowd.

  • This guy is nothing compare to Greg Howe because he is far away of what is possible and sounds great for blue.

  • TOTALLY AGREE!!

  • neoclassical shredding is just a fad and its already dying, blues is an artform and an established traditional self expression

  • wrong. shredding is still alive, and always will be.

  • well, maybe for you, but for more mature, sensible guitarists aesthetics counts a lot.. when you grow up abit you'll see what i mean..dont take offense ,please..

  • im not saying that this isnt good...its great... i think all styles have their place. I think that shredding can be tasteful at times when done right, and its something that keeps its fans coming back for more time and again.

  • very well said, now i agree w/ you, i also have good shredders that i admire, the likes of john petrucci, eric johnson, joe satriani, paul gilbert, ritchie kotzen and the guy who used to be the lead guitarist of megadeth to name a few.

  • i think were on the same page

  • alright man! lets keep on rockin.. yeahhhh !!

  • I like how he doesn't shred at every opportunity. He is definely more a creature of metal than blues, but he plays with style.

  • i don,t think it,s boring blues has a lovely vibrato

  • Blues gets boring REAL quick! This dude needs a second gear big time. All those licks went out with hendrix.

  • I think he is great. let us see you doing it right...

  • I'm guessing your nickname comes from Yngwie?

I was a big fan of his too but in relation to the Yng and getting boring real quick let's just not go there!

    Blues is cool.

  • First off, Hendrix never "went out." Second, none of the licks he is playing are typical of Hendrix. And any guitarist that thinks blues is boring can't play it.

  • never figured out why this guy was called "blues" unless it was a reference to something other than the style of music.

  • radio 10 and tv 20 were the name of the series iirc

  • The guitar's a Samick. He used 'em for a while including.... (whispered) the Poison years. Very cool guitars but I've haven't heard much from 'em in a while.

  • gracias ¡''' estoy emocionado hace muchos años que lo vengo escuchando a saraceno ¡¡¡es un lujo verlo '¡¡¡¡

  • realmente lo es!!

  • what kind guitar is that????

  • this guy looks a bit like scott henderson

  • This ain't the blues =P People call "BLUES" any pentatonic. this is hard rock'n'roll. Wanna meet the blues? so listen to BB.King or Albert King. Want Something more fresh? Steve Ray Vaughan or Mr.Clapton.

  • Who say that this is blues? this guy name name is Blues asshole haha

  • lmao ^^

  • totally agree!!

  • Yeah, cause looks are all that matter.

  • awesome, this absolutely shows that shred isnt the way to express everything. Those notes that he played meant more than a million notes that yngwie gets out of his guitar each song

  • ehh... This guy can be classified as an 80's style "shred guitarist" .. listen to his first album 'Never look back" hell, just one look at the albumcover is enough :D tight jeans 'n poodlehair :p

  • yeah, your right... this guy is in fact a late 80's shredder regardless of the blues licks.

  • This guy is the new Hendrix!

  • Blues is amazing!!!
