Regardless of wherever you believe its right or wrong the boys who fight deserve respect. All the very best to ones fighting it least we forget the glorious dead.
Ex RCT did the last 2 years of my 6 running around Belfast in civvie cars unarmed, nothing though to what they are doing today. They have my respect and admiration, come home safe.
my family and i are so grateful to all you brave soldiers putting your lives on the line for our freedoms which we take for granted day in day out may god bless you all
It's 11-11-2011 tomorrow and I'm so glad I came across this very moving, powerful video.
I will be with my family at our town's memorial service on Sunday, to show our heartfelt respect and appreciation for all those who have laid down their lives.
To all service personnel past and present, words will never be enough to show our gratitude.
Brilliant. Very well ,made & presented. Even though I'm not an "average" solider, I'm female & joined when I was 26, I could still relate to a lot of what you said. Fantastic. I will be sharing this with my friends. Thank you for sharing. x
great video so proud to support you heroes as i know exactly the conditions you brave lads are working in out there as i had served with 4rtr it had brought it all back to me god bless and keep you all safe come home safe lads as we should not have to rely on charity for our troops our goverment can fund refugees who are happy to bomb us and cant take care of our brave men and women who fight for our freedom ex rtr soldier
Thank you. And no, i'm not just saying this to our brave heroes, i'm saying this to the other heroes, you, the people that support them. You have no idea how much it means.
I am only 14 but ever since I was about 10 I have been wanting to be in the army and as soon as I am 17 I'm joining up and going to afghan to serve for the queen the country and the people within.
i love you english. true hard core motherfuckers. brings a tear my eye. soldiers in the same battle my boys. thanks for having our backs mates. cheers (on a sad note) from america. love you guys
as a fellow iraq vet, thank you my forever loving allies. regardless of what our government does, know that i love you guys and respect you and cant give you enough thanks for supporting us. i would take a bullet for you like you are my own because you are my own. mother britain. americans and the english. family forever
Sends a shiver down your spine, there's a photo of me in the video at 2:49 I'm the tall one in the blue beret at the re-pat of "Duke" dennis & "Lenny" Lawrence of the Light Dragoons. Would like to thank Iain for adding the photo since most of the boys in red hats & I where crying our eyes out!
As an American who served in Iraq, I know how you feel at times. While I didn't suffer any real permanent injuries like you did (aside from a torn shoulder labrum), it did wreck my budding marriage (got married while on leave). But that's a LONG story.
Very moving video..brought the hairs up on the back of my neck and immensely proud of the troops of our Armed Forces having served 24 years myself and been on detachments around the globe.
@jasonjonescfc hi pal im in the army sorry it took 7 month for me to notice it and plus ive been in afgan aswell im in the rlc as a driver and got back from tour a months ago. ive been in since i was a 16 yr old kid straight out of school and i love it its the greatest feel ever to walk down the streets and know ur making a difference and the pride of being able to do something like this in life is just unbelieveable u know. go for it pal i wouldnt change it for the world and im18 so gd luck yh.
Speaking as a Still Serving Royal Marine Commando (as can be seen from my profile picture..handsome arent i haha )....the one thing i'll never forget is my Troop Commando saying to us all after a friend lost his life on patrols one day..i remember it well and i have heard it before then i think..but he said:
"lads, its a harsh reality....we have ALL lost a good friend, comrade, brother...today.....in peacetime ..SONS...bury FATHERS....in WARTIME.....FATHERS...BURY THEIR SONS"......
this is an amazingly powerful video and could even reduce the most masculine of men in to tears as they relise what the avarge british soldier is like ..... this is definatly the most powerful tribute to a british soldier i have seen to date
Much respect and love to these brave men and women from an American brother-in-arms... thank y'all for everything you do... it's noticed and appreciated!!!
No matter what your opinion of the wars Britain fights in, remember this: Theres a Son, Daughter, Brother, Sister, Husband, Wife, Lover, Best Mate, Putting his and her life on the line for YOUR freedom of speech and way of life.
This Remembrance Sunday, spare a thought for those who never returned to see their Family and friends faces again.
Haunting!!!, should be shown on national TV. Have not served myself BUT have many friends & relatives who have given, & feel proud to walk in their shadow. May their Lord watch over them & return them safe to their loved ones.
Sums up the life of a soldier. Told to fight for what ever reason in the interests of the greatness of his nation. We don't see them, we don't know them but we do respect them, who ever they may be, one day I want to be just like them.
This video makes me so proud of our Amed Forces these young men and woman are fighting for freedom not just in Britain or Afganistan but around the world. They shed blood, tears and sweat on a daily basis for a shockingly low amount of money.
I am so proud of all of you. And I so proud and gratefull to the men and woman who have given their lifes. Nothing will ever fill the hole in their familys heart, but I would like them to know that ordinary folk like me think about them everyday.
A very powerful, poignant video, Maximum Respect to ALL our Brave Warriors who are putting their Precious Lives on the line 24-7-365 to ensure we remain living in the Freedom we can ALL take for granted. To all our Brave Fallen Warriors, who have paid the Ultimate Price, Gone but NEVER Forgotten, as your Hand Prints & Footprints are always lovingly etched on the Hearts of your Family, Friends & Colleagues. To ALL our Brave Injured Warriors, wishing you a Speedy Recovery.
i am in the army and have served in afghanistan and i appreciate all your comments below, but ask any soldier and he will say the same as me "we dont think we r better than any1"
I could not have put this any better. Men and women from every service are protecting our fredom everyday. Makes me proud to be British. It breaks my heart everytime i hear one of my "friends" disrespect them.
Does anyone know where i can get a copy of this? I want to show it to my ATC squadron, it really hits the point better than i ever could.
RIP every man and woman who has died in service to their country!
As an Ex soldier now serving in the Royal Navy I feel extremely humble watching this video as i have lost many friends. This video is absolutely true to every word and i would do it over again if I had the chance. RIP the many heroes who have paid the ultimate price. Gone but never forgotten
Everytime I hear about a troop dieing in the Iraq War, my mom goes and plants a rose for them in our back yard. Theres too many troops. And one flower is a yellow tulip for my cousin. March 15th, 1985-May 6th, 2007. Miss you Tony. :*(
Makes me feel proud and gratefull being ex army I know how hard it is on these young men, and I also know how little thanks they receive when they come home. My brother in law was in afghan with the grenadiers and I can see how it has changed him forever, he went out there cocky and full of himself but since comming back he is more withdrawn ... he gets mad when people call him a hero, all he can say are the hero's are the ones that dont come back and unfortunately he lost several friends ...
im german but even a quarter british thats not much BUT you see english bloods runnung trough my veins thats true and my grandfather he fought for the freedom!!!
and he did free germany with all the other braves!!!
our respect is neverending of gratitude imeasurable , and u did give your tomorrow for our today and that is something we can never repay ....rest well our heroes with heartfelt love to you all R.I.P
That is awfully beautiful, you know what, i totally agree with you, these loving 19 year old kids jumping into the scorching fire of bullets pierceing their bodies, for what? freedom? what is freedom? free to live free and as one pleases? free to do what one wishes? no, freedom is the love and friendship flowing from you and everyone. i respect everyone and anyone who risks their lives, may 'GOD' what ever it may be, bless you all.
@abam9123 very good perception there abam. Im currently serving with the Royal Marine Commando's as you can see from my profile picture. nearly 7 years now...i always remember My old Sergeant saying to me after that first contatc up close in Helmand Afghanistan...its been a long day lads and well done today you made myself and the Troop Commander incredibly proud, you really held your own and took it to them....and ya know..those few words were immense to me as a young lance corporal in 2005
@abam9123 The bravado just drained from me and during that first contact and every contact i've ever been in since the only thought in your mind...apart from keeping mates alive ...is that you find religion from out of nowhere..im not even religious..but whenever im in an engagement with the enemy you always find yourself thinking "please god, just let me get out of this alive and i'll never sin again..just let me live"...and i tell no lies...thats what i think..everytime without fail.
@abam9123 I joined to do this job, live and because i was 21 and hadnt really seen much of the world..but now whenever i find myself and the guys back in Helmand , Afghanistan..the only place i want to be is back home in Portsmouth with my wife and kids...but yet i still wouldnt leave this job yet as i , like most of the otehr lads im sure, feel that if i leave right now im leaving my mates to go and do the job without me..and it wouldnt be right. Sorry to go on but thought i'd give my insight.
What a powerful, moving video. To think these men are losing their lives for reasons that none of us really understand. Tfunster above says it all. What crap politicians we have to leave these men and women so short of the essential equipment they require.
videos like these make me feel proud of the job that i an the rest of the servicemen and women are doing in afganistan and on other operations around the world!so thank u and keep em cumin.
I stood in my town centre last Saturday and wept silent tears for two boys who died away from there loved ones and who were coming home to a hero's welcome. I did not stand alone, I stood sholder to sholder with hundreds more who had come to pay their last respects to two men who they didn't know and hadn't met, but who were true hero's all the same. God bless all who fight for this great country and her people. We will not forget !
my Cousin is in the army he drives the vehicles that are blown up every day. He WILL have to do a second tour and he does this all for me and us. He has seen many deaths but will never give in.
This is an amazing video and compleatly true. Our soldiers risk their lives daily as we carry on with ours without a second thought about what hell they are going through.
Amazing vid have been sharing it all day. My hubby is currently in Afghan & one of my neighbours will sadly not be returning not as he should anyway...RIP all the fallen & god pls keep my husband safe to come back to me & our young family....!!!
This video made me cry. I may not always agree that wars that our troops fight defend our freedom, but that doesn't mean I'm against the British troops. They're doing the job they were sent to do by our leaders, and some do so with genuine compassion and concern to protect the public not just in Britain but in other countries. We all support troops in our own way, but I just feel the best way to support them is to bring them home, or take them out of combat missions and into humanatrian support.
Powerful Video. Respect to all those men and women who serve. And remembering those who have fallen, RIP. This is maybe not the time, but it angers me that our politicians don't provide them with the proper tools and resources. They were quick enough to reward themselves (until they got found out) and bail out our irresponsible bankers. How many sets of body armour do you think could be bought with those massive financial bonuses that were recently handed out!
Our present Soldiers see more combat operations that at any time since the great wars and in an enviroment that is more hostile and without the true political support for doing the job they have been sent to do. We salute you.
We cannot let others forget how these lads suffer so the rest of us can live in so called peace. Wear your poppy and wear it with pride. I am an ex-service woman and lost some good friends. They didn't get the chance to grow older or to see their families grow up. These lads deserve far morre support than they get. They are all some Mother's son (or daughter) keep their memories alive.
I am a combat veteran, I am an American, I am a British Guards Reenactor. God Bless them all and RIP. To the Grenadier Guards and RMPs who just lost their lives, and the men and women at Ft. Hood, Texax. May our people one day figure out what price is paid for their freedoms. Honor them Nov 11th. Take the time to remember. Please.
I came home today from a long shit week at work and complained to the wife that I'm in a job I dont really like..... after watching this a moment ago, Ive realised maybe MY job isnt so bad and I should stop moaning.
You cant put into words how much gratitude we owe our soldiers. I wear my poppy with honest pride.
This sounds worse, but I was standing at the Remembrance parades today. I was standing at ease, my feet were cold, my hands were going numb, my knees were getting sore, my back was getting tense...and then I remembered that while I was being a whiny bitch, there were guys at that moment that had been in the most horrendous situations, and I had absolutely no right to complain about mine at all
God bless ALL our Troops,, and God willing, get them home to their families and friends safe and sound......you guys and lassies are Simply The Best..!...Lest We Forget!!!!
its called Sgt MacKenzie, and is written and sung by Joe Kilna Mackenzie, Joe Kilna Mackenzie son of Maria McCabe and the late Alex McCabe. Joe wrote the song in memory of his Grandfather a Moray man, from Bishopmill, who along with hundreds of other Seaforth Highlanders from the Elgin/Rothes area went to fight in the great war. Sgt Charles Stuart MacKenzie was bayoneted to death at, the age of 35, while defending one of his badly injured colleagues in the hand to hand fighting of the trenches.
amazing chap. was watching this as the news came on the TV about five brave soldiers that were murdered by a so called afghan police officer.....massive respect to all the brave lads and lasses out there doing a job most of us would not consider. kudos to you for putting it on here.
While many question the government's motives for deploying our troops in current theatres, I know few - if any - who do not support every single one of our (and our allies') armed forces. Well done and thank you.
Regardless of wherever you believe its right or wrong the boys who fight deserve respect. All the very best to ones fighting it least we forget the glorious dead.

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret
"just tell us you love us and never forget" To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone.
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough ,and with that we trust.
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us.

What can I say.........
That is a fantastic tribute to the men and women who defend our country and others against their enemies.
When it finished i just sat here looking at the screen for a while in thought..... never done that before.
Brilliant video... well done

It brought my thoughts to those I knew and had lost , not in Iraq or afghan , but long before , in The Falklands.
And as I wept , I heard of yet another loss .... Pro Patria et Pro Regina.

Im currently serving with the Royal Marine Commando's as you can see from my profile picture. nearly 7 years now...i always remember My old Sergeant saying to me after that first contatc up close in Helmand Afghanistan...its been a long day lads and well done today you made myself and the Troop Commander incredibly proud, you really held your own and took it to them....and ya know..those few words were immense to me as a young lance corporal in 2005
LCStreetPhotographer 1 year ago 3
@abam9123 The bravado just drained from me and during that first contact and every contact i've ever been in since the only thought in your mind...apart from keeping mates alive ...is that you find religion from out of nowhere..im not even religious..but whenever im in an engagement with the enemy you always find yourself thinking "please god, just let me get out of this alive and i'll never sin again..just let me live"...and i tell no lies...thats what i think..everytime without fail.
LCStreetPhotographer 1 year ago 5
@abam9123 I joined to do this job, live and because i was 21 and hadnt really seen much of the world..but now whenever i find myself and the guys back in Helmand , Afghanistan..the only place i want to be is back home in Portsmouth with my wife and kids...but yet i still wouldnt leave this job yet as i , like most of the otehr lads im sure, feel that if i leave right now im leaving my mates to go and do the job without me..and it wouldnt be right. Sorry to go on but thought i'd give my insight.

Take up our quarrel with the foe,
from you to fallen arms we throw,
the touch be yours to hold it high
if you brake faith in us who die
we shall not sleep, though poppys grow
in flanders field....
To my brothers in arms!

What a powerful, moving video. To think these men are losing their lives for reasons that none of us really understand. Tfunster above says it all. What crap politicians we have to leave these men and women so short of the essential equipment they require.

Amen to this Movie.
Something without bullsheet for once.
Bravo.

Please.

This sounds worse, but I was standing at the Remembrance parades today. I was standing at ease, my feet were cold, my hands were going numb, my knees were getting sore, my back was getting tense...and then I remembered that while I was being a whiny bitch, there were guys at that moment that had been in the most horrendous situations, and I had absolutely no right to complain about mine at all

its called Sgt MacKenzie, and is written and sung by Joe Kilna Mackenzie, Joe Kilna Mackenzie son of Maria McCabe and the late Alex McCabe.

While many question the government's motives for deploying our troops in current theatres, I know few - if any - who do not support every single one of our (and our allies') armed forces. Well done and thank you.
