  • @Saturnlead shut up, hater!!!!!!!!

  • @juniorjenova no!! I love Ritchie blackmore he is my favorite guitarist!!

  • Damn right Jon Lord...which explains why purple make wishy washy music these days..that and the fact Jon left too...so we are a left with a Deep Purple with no balls.

  • I always consider him in the leagues with jimmy page...just in terms of his approach to guitar, but jimmy was more rhythmic, blackmore is more riffy, more to the point. his percision is miles above page's. but i don't think he's a perfectionist, i tink he's just naturally flawless.

  • Jon Lord almost subordinated himself for the sake of the band - and he's extremely generous here. Jon Lord is an outstanding musician and composer and he should have equal recognition to the other band members,; they should all have equal recognition to each other.

(Btw, I'm a big Ritchie fan so I know what I'm talking about)

  • Also its questionable if Ritchie's current hair system/toupee could hold up to the rigors of multiple full-on rock n' roll shows but I would still like to see him play even if he is all ponced up in renaissance garb. He is a great player and it would be nice to see him on the big stage again.

  • He's been calling his own shots for so long its doubtful he would ever be interested in a reunion. He already did it once and they were all paid handsomely. Its possible they would do a one off deal if the price were right but its well known IG and Ritchie don't get on at all. Financial independence makes it possible for them to avoid each other perpetually.

  • @bowiemott coverdale said he'd be up for a one time deal so did Jon but no word from ritchie

  • @ZeroOZeroO yes thats what I heard - Coverdale was also interviewed in CR magazine and said he would be up for it but only if Richie was. Though given Blackmore's apparent 100% dedication to "Blackmore's Night" he probably won't do another Purple tour/album.

  • @ZeroOZeroO Unfortunately David's voice would no way hold up for a tour. Although it would be great to see the MKIII members all back together and see and hear them play again.

  • @TheGrabsplatter David's voice has weened a bit.Gillan's pipes are still strong thugh.

  • Please Ritchie come back agin to Deep Purple and shake the World of Rock music again!

  • for richie deep purple is dead i think so he started a new life and now is father again with is latest wife and i don think that richie or his wife let do this again deep purple with blackmore is history forever

  • I think Jon maybe giving him a little too much credit, quite possibly. They were all pretty equal, in my estimation. All one of a kind musicians.

  • Agree. Once I saw Jon Lord say "Ritchie is the soul of Deep Purple"

  • Do you think Ritchie will ever do a reunion with former musicians to play Depp Purple or even Rainbow music? Now that he is eventually married her, Candice should not be so jelous to his glory days?

  • personally i think it won't happen, 'cause Ritchie hates pressure, managements, he wants to do what he likes.

  • @DreamHealer87 he does what he likes...now-a-days he likes renaissance music(he always has)..but dont u think theres still a part of him somewhere deep deep down that still wants to get on stage and play rocknroll and destroy a few strats and set a few amps on fire??

  • @MissPouLou Would be cool, but if, than hopefully without Gillan. Gillan was! a fucking good singer, in my opinion the best and he was kind of funny, most probably because he has been drunk all the time. But since the Purples comeback in 80s hes like a wrong man on stage, kind of embarrassing, hes doing ridiculous moves and is wearing ridiculous stuff, but his voice was still more or less very good in the 80s. But today.. his voice is just.. u know it..

  • @MissPouLou yea he still likes playing rock he just said he hates what the music industry has become

  • Jon and Ritchie are my favs from Deep Purple!

  • @bluemeany First of all, Jon Lord's organ is NOT a "church organ": it is an Hammond B-3 connected to a Marshall GUITAR amplifier: with Mark II, Jon Lord played his Hammond as a Rhythm guitar (listen to the reprise at the end of Smoke on the Water's solo), with a lot of solos too. I think you're an hypocrite if you say that the organ ruins Deep Purple, because Purple's music is based on Guitar and Organ, and, without organ (and keyboards) we can't call them Deep Purple.

    Hope u'll understand...

  • hahahaah Church Organ??? Is called a B3 Hammond Organ is not a church organ, I respect your opinion, but every damn Purple Fan will tell you the Organ made Purple Unique!!!!!! C'mon how would Purple had been without Jon Lord?? So Absurd!!!!, then again is your Opinion, have a nice day :)

  • Not really unique. Uriah Heep were largely based on Hammond Organ too, and there were many others (listen e.g. to Atomic Rooster) but I get your point. One thing I like with DP during the Gillan era was their Hammond organ, and that is also the main reason I started to dig Heep.

  • bluemeany is an idiot...

  • It is obvious that Ritchie was the mastermind behind DP music - he was/is great composer first, and then good guitarist.

After DP, he (and prob Coverdale) was the only one who continued with something new and successful without exploiting DP name.

He created masterpieces with Rainbow, and had/have huge mass of fans. Not to mention his importance in guitar playing.

I wonder how many rock-guitarists did not listen to his playing

  • blackmore is much better than Hendrix

  • Mate, Fucking too right hes better than hendrix... in my opinion Blackmore is the best there is, and the most under appreciated.

  • To Glezzery62--

Dude, just because you claim your list of guitarists "SLAYS" Blackmore does not make it so. It's ironic that the deficiencies you accuse Blackmore of have been demonstrated in some of the guitarists on your list. It's your list that's lacking, not Blackmore's guitar skill.

  • I sat with Jon Lord and chatted after a show he did at the Basement in Sydney bout 4 years ago... - he said he still talks with Blackis - he said Purple are like family to him...

  • Let's get one thing straight, if it hadn't been for Blackmore, Purple would have become a classical band, which is what Lord wanted them to be.

Therefore the rock world is hugely indebted to Mr R Blackmore.

  • yes... And also Jon Lord wouldn't have found the beast by connecting his amp to a Marshall, because, Ritchie had to be there... Because the only reason why Jon did that was because he wanted to have a strong sound equal to Ritchie's guitar sound... A crunchy sound. And also Jon would be on the piano more than the organ, because it was Ritchie that encouraged him to stay on the organ... Meaning Jon would had decide to play on piano for studio songs (and probably live too) if Ritchie wasn't there.

  • my god... the big organ sound was what made Purple

  • the organ is the most immediately identifiable element, but blackmore is the technical genius behind P

  • All 5 members are technical genious.

  • that's what made Purple Unique it was like a Supergroup every member was like a fucking Virtuoso in their own field.

  • That0s true, like Genesis.

    Great time.

  • @eddiemperor you aren't kidding.I think Ian Gillan,Blackmore,Paice, and Lord are all amongst the best best ever at their particular instrument or singing in Gillan case. This is one the few bands where all the different lineups hughes, coverdale, morse, etc. kicked arse.

  • Lord didn't want Purple to be classical. He wanted to combine rock and classic music.

  • Ok..but Blackmore made sure they didn't go in that direction..thankfully...he actually said that if the In Rock album wasn't a success he would agree to do classical/rock.

  • In some songs they combine rock and classic. Songs like Fools and Lazy .

  • Yes but those songs don't have an orchestra in them.

Try Rainbow's A Light In The Black..that does..then listen to thier songs..Difficult to Cure and Hall Of The Mountain King...they are modern versions of Classical Music.

  • @irarocker

How is Lazy in any way influenced by classical music? It's a straight ahead blues shuffle. Highway Star has a lot of classical elements in the solos (both keys and guitar). Lazy no. Maybe not even Fools...

  • Fools' organ solo sounds like violin. And Lazy in the start is a little influenced by classical music.

  • listen to the unwritten law and the spanish archer on the house of blue light album.... some fantastic classic influences in those songs

  • oh my god....... the worst songs in purple history.

  • i never sed they were the best... im saying they have classical style riifs in them. the best purple albums are machine head and perfect strangers, but in my opinion there all fantastic.

  • @irarocker The solo in the song Fools is played on the guitar......I always thought it sounded like a cello, personally. Great stuff, though!

  • @blackmore7777fan I know it isn't a cello. I just said it sounds like a cello. Are you sure it's the guitar? I think it's the organ. Lord liked solos like that...

  • It's the guitar solo of Blackmore in Fools. One of his trademark, plays with the tone/volume control and make cello sound. Blackmore is unique.

  • @DreamHealer87 Yeah I love that solo and song. It was also on Made In Japan.

  • @irarocker Check out Wring that Neck, Part 2 here on YouTube: /watch?v=SYUCq7H4O4c&feature=related

Both Blackmore and Lord were classically trained. Check out the Dvorak riff at 1:37 ;-)

  • the intro is classical eìabd also some of the licks played by blackmore..but to us it sounds simply like a rock phrase..but for that year it was different..

  • "PIONERS OF METAL" ... Is it the documentary name, right ???

  • Right, it's from 1991. And there's nothing interesting in that documentary.

  • Obviously u just have no idea, im sry...

  • Go make Better or get a life

  • My two main instruments while being LIVE will be the Hammond Organ (thank you Jon Lord) and a Gibson Guitar (thank you Jimmy Page)... and I'll rock and jam on both of them...!

  • ritchie is the best. any other guitarist will tell you that. ask jimmy page, david gilmour, toni iommi, eddy van halen what the top 5 guitarist are to them. if you dont think so you are a ass clown and you should stick nails in your ears and never should sign in on youtube again.

  • i think the same

  • well they would seriously answer back that there is no best, but there are influences, and we all just do our best in our music, but that's all... There is no best or better, just favorites... It's not the skills of the guitar you have, it's the music that comes out of your playing...

  • I Think the Same too.

  • Thats such a bullshit list, omg...

  • Ok 3 points..your list has more than 5, Blackmore isn't on it......and wtf is " pawnz "??

  • if u dont like his attitude thats fine, hell even if for whatever reason u dont like his playing (dont understand why u wouldnt but whatever) thats your opinion, but seriously there are WAY bigger assholes in the music biz, you wanna see biggest prick in the music biz look no further than malmsteen

  • Moron...check. thug...got it....major jerk,,,no question..assualts people...right on

DOESN'T PLAY WELL ? WHAT ? I thought you knew what you were talking about. RB is top five all time, and he ain't #5 , either. Almost any rock guitarist will tell you.

Wait, maybe he's not quite the moron that YOU are.

  • He IS the founder of heavy metal shreding (and the master).

  • you asshole

  • I think the reason why Ritchie was known as such a "prick" was because no one understood him and didnt take into mind that at times you have to be rough to get things done and get them done right.

  • I don't think Ritchie even understands himself so you can't really blame the others for not understanding him. Some of his actions have been very irrational. Then of course as you say, you sometimes need to be rough to get things done, but in Ritchie's case he also seem to lack social skills and have problems interacting with other people.

  • blackmore's music composition: smoke in the water highway star burn mistreated lazy speed king pictures of home space truckin black night .... etc most of the known purple songs. So there is no doubt about what lord is saying.
  • yea, Lord got it right, but Roger Glover wrote most of Speed King anyway

  • yeah I think but I was talking about melody not lyrics. Whatever I love Ritchies songs in Purple and Rainbow.

  • you seem to know a lot of purple ! - LOL - do you want some stories about jimmy ?

  • well yeah...

  • this is correct,

    JBlacklamb,

Richtie was the motor of deep purple,

without him, the band never would had this succes and importance for the british rock.

  • Ritchie Blackmore has got to be one of the greatest guitarists ever, when you hear one of his pieces of music, be it with Rainbow, Deep Purple or Blackmore's Night you hear his guitar and just think - thats Ritchie.

  • Easily the most recognizable sound in the business. His passion and skill is second to none.

  • Jon is such a fine guy!

Can't believe that he was this rough hammond-pathfinder.

    50% of the purple-sound is that roaring-beast-organ i think...

  • 100% Agreed! Anyway, for me Jon's organ makes 99% of DP sound, the rest is just necessary filling :-)

But of course I'm a Hammond purist.

  • Long live us Hammond purists :)
