Melody was a very simple, homely girl and not pretty at all. She had no physical beauty whatsoever and yet Keith was attracted to her unlike maybe the pretty or beautiful girls of their time. This good-looking, energetic young man. Maybe she was vivacious and full of energy and that's what attracted him to her. They wrote beautiful songs together. It shows real character when a good-looking guy chooses a girl without any physical beauty whatsoever and looks within the heart.
If there is any one word you could use to describe Keith it is "genuine." There was nothing fake about him or what he believed as a Christian. He didn't care anything about money. He was a man with a mission from God. The anointing of the Holy Spirit was in his songs. If you can't feel it you haven't yet come to know the Lord.
I've always wanted to know his story, since I discovered his music. So passionate! such a good testamony! I hope more people hear it, and it draws them, even if it is from curiosity,to the Lord! J
Keith loved God SO BIG (with intense passion) because he understood how unworthy he is of God's love. Won't you love the person who gave much to you BUT loves more the person who gave much much more to you?
Just a quick note to clarify... (I got emailed) In my earlier comment, I only COPIED other's quotes, and added the scripture verse along with them, because I absolutely know, and believe that God used Keith's set-backs to move him forward!! He used a mess to create a message! :)
And Thank God, He did! It was a message I GOT from Keith Green!! I can actually say, that I know it was by being exposed to his music, it led me to Christ. His legacy is one of the most beautiful and eternal. Blessings!
Keith was most certainly called by GOD according to his purpose,He failed at his "rock & roll" band for a year he didn't play his music,GOD wanted him to witness and tell people Who Jesus is and HOW Jesus affected his life. "To be absent from the body , is to be present with The Lord, The Lord is proud of Keith ,the gift He gave to Keith , he spreads it still today to the ends of the earth, GOD LOVES THE GIFT KEITH DELIVERED SO MUCH , HE WANTED IT ALL TO HIMSELF. GOD IS SMILING AND SO PROUDLY
Beautiful story. Great to see all these early clips of Keith. And did anyone notice the way his hair went from straight to curly to signify his spiritual change. A lot of Christians got perms in the seventies after converting. That's why they were called perms - because it was a sign of a permanent committment. But Keith was first, and of course, his happened naturally as an outpouring of his new life. Thanks for posting.
I don't think so- perms are called perms cuz they are permanent curls.that's a weird take on this. shorter hair curls more than long hair too. I know from experience. The geri-curl started everyone curling their hair in the 80's and it was a really bad phase too. :) Blah, 80's hair.
yeah, it was but I can't see the post I was replying to... anyway I believe someone was saying that his hair got curlier as he got more serious with God and I just didn't agree with that 'mystically curly hair' take on it. I think it's funny and odd. ---He was a great inspiration to a generation. Sad that he died so young.
The objection nowadays to this kind of approach? "there was a childish romanticism". I've only just accepted Jesus into my life, but Jesus should be like that, I think.
of course the drugs did NOT have an effect in his passionate life with Jesus. Throughout the entire biography, it says how that was his personality. He was stubborn, he woulndt stop persisting, He strived with all he had. Drugs played no part in his passion.
I was just a bit younger than Keith in the 70s. He had a great effect on many of my age, now 47. Keith did some good things. His personality was so intense that it makes me consider the effect of the drugs he did before meeting Jesus. There are plenty on this earth doing good work for Jesus. Everyone doesn't need to be as emotionally intense as Keith was. Overall, I am grateful for his being alive and ministering while I was a teenager. May God Bless the memory of Keith Green!
WOW! I've read the biography, but this is soooo much better! When I was a new Christian, I saw him at a church around 1976 and was totally blown away!
I remember them both well. Melody more or less pushed me from the mixing board, and took control of it. That was ok with me. He was awesome, and he was intense. He personally wrote me after the concert. We had a little disagreement. I'll get to that later
God's grace in our lives is incredible -- none of us are worthy of the love of Christ -- not even Keith -- but thank God His blood covers our sins and allows us to boldly approach His throne and be with Him -- and best of all... He calls us friends!!!!

To this day, there is still no one like him. He tore you down and then built you right back up much closer to Jesus' image.

If two people were ever meant to be together it was Melody and Keith.
Thanks again for posting this.
So good to see all this early footage. Brings back memories of those years for me...being a new Christian in the early 70's.

Indeed he did! He also used them to bring Melody to Himself as well.
