  • I loved this game, why cant they do a modern upgrade but keep the same game engine. it was superb, and I loved the mission builder. I used to see how many Destroyers it would take to sink Yamato!!

    Great days

  • this brings back memories, on my 286 pc was like 12 floppy discs to install. good times. The boxes for these games where massive how times have changed.

  • I agree with the other guys.. A great game! It had a real entertainment value,, total fun which is so hard to find in modern games. Way ahead of it's time in terms of graphics and gameplay. The historical setting was also great.. I loved the battles with the islands moving in the background and creating tactical interest..

  • For a game almost 20 years old, it's amazing how good the graphics and sounds are!

  • Never mind one of the greatest games of all time wsmith01; how about one of the greatest game publishers of all time?!!!

  • this game rules. now if only i could find a manual for it :/

  • Oh Man.....How I miss this game, if I had a dollar for every hour I spent playing this...I could quit my job, I still have it on floppys somewhere in the basement.

  • In the early to mid 90's I would go to the games store and pick up boxes and if they were heavy I would check the back of the box! Invariably, Microprose games always came in heavy boxes with big manuals and maps, etc. That's why I still own this game, and other Microprose PC titles like Starlord, 5th Fleet, Darklands and 1944, amongst others!

  • What about B17 Flying Fortress (the 1st one, of course!)? ;-)

  • I have B17 Flying Fortress too - and Sword of the Samurai and Red Storm Rising and Gunship 2000 and..........!!!

  • ahh memories. This was such a great game. Just right amt of realism and game play mixed. I was very interested in the battle of Guadalcanal also.

  • Download DOSBOX and play TF1942 within a modern Windows operating system!

  • One of the best games of all time... I would do ridiculous things to see a modern upgrade!

  • technology's certainly here now, just a lack of will. Gonna be left to an Indie developer to do hard-core sims like MP.

  • Thank you for posting. This was my first computer game, I bought it before I even owned one. I still have the game but cannot get it to run on my newer machines. A great old game with the best manuel set ever.

  • One of the best indeed. Used to spent my countless evenings slugging it out. Great stuff!

  • One of the best games I've ever played. It's amazing that this game ran on such little equipment.
