Yeah i was in recovery mode everytime, in the end i just did the restore and ignored the 'contacting Apple' box. It restored back to factory settings n I just synced up my ipod with itunes again. Its not jailbroken, just normal now. I might give it another try this weekend.

What generation is it? If it is a 2g then you can downgrade it to 3.0 by downloading the 3.0 file from the firmware website listed on the side. Then put the ipod into DFU mode. Open itunes and hold down the option key and click restore. Find where you saved the 3.0 file and click choose. And there you go. If you have any trouble look for videos on how to do it. Thats what I did.

SONNYESS no it is not possible to do this what you have to do is downgrade to 3.0 with iTunes 8 download the software from the frimware web in the description.now you need to put your itouch 1 or 2g i have 2g n worked like a charm!you have to put ipod into dfu mode when done a notic with itunes should pop up saying the ipod is in recovery mode.click ok then click alt/option on mac if PC click shift and click on restore.the save firware to desktop then find the firmware which should be 3.0.
