  • I agree it is NOT abuse. I had two newt tadpoles but one has gone missing but they are in the same tank as a palmate newt. Do you think the palmate has eaten one?

  • @antonifergusonphoto That's possible. According to Wikipedia Palmate Newts: "are also known to display cannibalistic tendencies".

  • animal abuse

  • @yahrasta If it's the small container you are calling animal abuse, it's not. They were only in there for about 5 minutes when they where filmed and photographed. After that they were gently put back into the pond.

  • hey i really want some smooth/common newt tadpoles but i dont know where i'd find them!! i live in bury st edmunds in suffolk (near london). can someone plz help me and tell me where i'd almost definitely find them?? all replies extremely appreciated xxizzyxx

  • @Izzy61634 Small ponds without fish as a good place too look.

  • i have a common newt he is now about 4-5 inches long

  • They eat freshwater plankton, and later insect larvae, molluscs and similar food (unlike frog tadpoles, newts are carnivorous throughout their life).

  • what do they eat

  • i have got 3 smooth newt tadpoles and 1 common newt, i will put a video up tomorrow of them

  • @donkel13 smooth newts are common newts
