When the Lions praticed in Ypsilanti Mi in 1952 I was 12 years old and sat under a tree there with my pal Butch and a couple of other kids and Bobby Layne..He gave me a football..He was one nice guy..He talked to us like he was one of us and not some all star football player..Man I wish I was back there..

The Browns were still the team of the 50s, despite Detroit beating them 3 times out of 4. The Browns appeared in 7 title games and won 3 themselves.

Thanks for uploading these. I think 50-60's football are great. Running the ball 30 to 40 times a game is the way football should be played, not passing friendly rules that, don't allow defense.

@Adamaineiac - I agree that the game should be predominantly rushing, not passing. However, today's players are bigger, faster, have more lateral quickness. Therefore, the field dimensions which were created in the 1870s are not wide enough to accommodate the greater mobility of these players. On that basis the field should be widened by at least 20 yards. This will allow more rushing, laterals, reversals, & trick plays. That would be far more fun!
