i bought a ticket to Kauai for the week of my 23rd birthday and went there with no plans but a backpack and an open mind. i made 3 friends at a hostel from around the world and we spent the day here. i didnt know how to swim but i faced my fears and jumped off this swing and it was amazing. i love this island and the vibe man
@ylua808 Hi! Thank you for your comment. This was my first time swinging on a rope and no one gave me instructions. I just grabbed the rope and jumped. When I waved to the camera I almost ran out of time to let go, that was scarry, my angels must have been watching over me. It is important to let go just before the peak of the swing. Be careful and have FUN! Aloha, Lisa
@junkyardtattoo Thank you, I took the video for my Dad and Jeff put it on youtube! I hope Kipu Falls is open for your adventure too! Just remember, let go of the rope when you start the return! Have fun!!! Aloha, Lisa
@LisaLinsky Yep i told my mom that i was afraid of going on that rope and i also told her the reason was because once i hold on i dont wanna let go. i told her i could hit the cliff, but she said i wouldnt hit it all i would do is kick the tree and come back. But she didnt believe it so you just helped me prove her wrong :)
@DaddysPrincess148 I can understand feeling afraid of going on the rope, but I dreamed about doing something like this my whole life, so I was able to focus on how much FUN it would be to swing like Tarzan and let go! Only you know what you're confident doing, so just enjoy your life. Aloha, Lisa
Anyway, Yahoo news led me to this page. I just think it's creepy how they found that guy from CA dead at the bottom of the water like he was pulled underneath. The place looks harmless
@angelo8349 Hi! I hadn't heard that, but you need to watch your step AND let go of the rope when you are over the water. I almost hit the cliff when I was waving to the camera, really. ALOHA, Lisa
What do u mean that was the last time you saw Jeff ? Did he drown ? I came to youtube lookin for video of this kipu falls after just hearing on the news about alot of deaths in the falls water there. So were u kidding thats the last time u saw him ??

I would be careful there, people keep drowning from something at the bottom. If i were you i'd swim to the bottom and look around, if you find bodies (you might not) don't be suprised.
@zZTrickShotZz Hi! I wasn't aware of people drowning from something at the bottom, but I'm sure thrilled that I was able have such a fantastic time and live to talk about it! Aloha, Lisa
My mind is ate up. The whole video I was thinking to myself "this looks like the jungle in Crysis 2. That would be a good sniper spot right up there..." Time to put the game away for awhile...
@fapyfapy Hi! I love this place too! Yes, it was slippery when we were there too! Just as Jeff was telling me to put away my camera I slipped! Sorry you didn't get to ride the rope. Aloha, Lisa
Thanks to this video I visited Kipu Falls. It was my wife's 50th birth day and our 28th wedding year. We brought daughter and boy friend , son and girl friend , and others.
Kipu falls is the best place in the state!!!!!! Thank you "u"tube people!!!!!!!!
@lodellm Its probably going to be closed now though, over 5 people have drowned and many more suffered serious injuries, saying there might by a whirlpool somewhere there sucking down swimmers
@hendrexrules Hi! I hope they don't close it down, but I can see how people could get seriously injured. I'm so happy I was able to experience such an awesome adventure and live to talk about it. There were locals doing flips out of the trees. Aloha, Lisa
@capnamerca Trust me, it's over 20 feet, especially if you are high up on the rope. Check it out! Just remember to "let go" of the rope before you swing back into the cliff...Aloha. Lisa
haha....that was great...poor jeff...you totally showed him up....loved the rewind and slow motion of his jump...classic!! Hope we can find our way there to see it! oh and u were right it does say 40ft on the internet.....it looks like 40ft!!
Great vid Lisa. U may like to own/enjoy adding a Go Pro HD camera to your equipment bag. Amazing mountable, warable waterproof camera. Example you could have had it with you when you rode the rope swing n splashed down, this would ahve made a gerat addition to your vid...
.
Any way, just a suggestion, Google it if you care to.
Mahalo! Thank you for your suggestion, I will be sure to check out this camera, although I really don't want to wear a helmet when diving into the water! But it might protect me if I forgot to let go of the rope and swung back into the cliff! Aloha, Lisalani
Yes-No-the cam has a helmet mount option but 1 of the many attributes of this cam is that it is a relatively cost "camera system" that the designer took the time to create MANY mounting options
.
IE-helmet-tube-suction cup-wrist-chest n probably more that I have forgotten
.
The cam alone is 25o but for 3oo U can choose from 3 different mounting kits n it is good quality HD-tiny-waterproof to boot
.
Judging form your personality I C in your vid-U will love this cam sys n make great vids with it.
That was a great video! Lisa - you are too cute and I bet, a blast of a friend to have!
I went to Kipu Falls last year & had a blast. My friends are leaving for Kauai in a few days & I was loooking up info on the falls for them & found your video. I'm thinking I will have to send them the link. Great job on it!

It is a very bad idea to hold the rope anywhere below your chest.
And you need to let go before the peak of the swing.
A lot of women also rip their ladyparts open because of how you hold the rope swing that was just demonstrated in the video.
What you should not do at Kipu.

ahh i love this place, I've been here twice though once it was rainy and the rocks were slippery and the current was too strong to get in :(
With that being said, this is definitely a must-visit attraction if you're visiting Kauai, just check the forecast before going!
