knockoutmouse89, I'd rather understand niggerlover9000 this way: for all the American who are ignorant; not: as all Americans are ignorant.
In deed, his comment indicates that there is a lot of them; something I wouldn't dare to judge. Yet, in my modest opinion, an American doesn't reveal himself as ignorant, only by not knowing this song is German and by Kurt Weill. Half of the Germans don't know the song, a quarter doesn't know it's German, and just a few of them do even know Kurt Weill.
Listen, guy, you don't need to say that ALL Americans are ignorant. I happen to be American and was aware that this was a German song originally--in fact, the first time I ever listened to it was in German. But then again, I see it may be too much to expect you not to generalize, after seeing your charming username.
The original version of the well known American jazz standard performed by Luis Armstrong or Ella Fitgerald is of course GERMAN - lyrics written by Bertlot Brecht as a part of its theatre peace called The Threepenny Opera, music composed by Kurt Weill. This unique YouTube version`s creator, who indeed is an inspiring trumpet player :-) but most of all a funny guy being aware of the world`s classics, is evidently CZECH. You can find out easily focusing on the banknote he`s showing :-D
OK, (thats's American) this is cool, good trumper and sense of humor and the fascination of this song still holds after all these years, doesn't it. I just learned (listening to renditions of this tune) about "theatre German".. You did it in, i can't remember the word, but "theatre" German. Sehr gut!

Not really "good" (well, maybe the trumpet playing), but awfully cute and very pleasant to watch.
