The rider does seriously deserve to get booked, particularly for some of the speeds on suburban roads. But the cop does take some serious risks with his own life and that of others, particularly if he's on an unmarked bike. The cop's riding around 5.00 where he's hassling a guy doing 70 to get out of his way is *worse* than the culprit.

They often have them where I live and race about the town chasing unmarked cars and bikes - and have a helicopter from time to time. It's unacceptable to put the public at such a risk. The police biker was a terrible driver. He could have quite easily caused a nasty accident. All he had to do was circulate details, record and go and see the driver later. He was encouraging him to race - which is an offence.

That's what I like about good ol Florida USA - They have to break pursuit entirely after 1/2 mile...... (unless you are leaving the scene of a felony)....Heck my slowest bike will eat 1/2 mile from a standing start in 16 seconds

If the majority feels like 100 is a safe speed, and you're going 60, then you're putting yourself at risk. Also, people will still be required to take responsibility for their actions. If you're going 100, then you should know that you will be responsible if you injure someone else. Same with the slow drivers, they need to be aware of others.
reading the comments, I wonder how many people think and realize that it's very common for police on bikes to take advanced racing classes and practice day in and day out before they're allowed that privilege of being on a bike, something more people need to realize is, in many cases police that worked their way up to a sports bike are some of the best non-reputable racers on the streets. While the law breakers are obviously a danger, to the competent cop it might be just a fast paced cruise.

This is not a race or hard riding, I own a ducati 1198s and have been on a race track with it and if a guy on a sports bike had been racing he could have left this cop in no time at all. If you think that would be acceptable, you clearly shouldn't be allowed on the highway. Vehicle speeds have to be in proportion. You can't have someone doing 100mph when everyone else is doing 30mph. I love the way everyone is blaming the police bike for egging him on. As you can see it is all on film. The rider is clearly in control and at no point does the police bike do anything to encourage such dangerous speeds. There was no attempt to stop because which means is not a pursuit. I ride a gsx1400. That is I ride... What people do behind me is up to them. There is no excuse for reaching organ doner speeds, just because there is a bike behind. The biker only has himself to blame.

@misanthrophes I understand the argument, but I believe that order will naturally come about. I think it will be a majority rules sort of thing. If the majority feels like 100 is a safe speed, and you're going 60, then you're putting yourself at risk. Also, people will still be required to take responsibility for their actions. If you're going 100, then you should know that you will be responsible if you injure someone else. Same with the slow drivers, they need to be aware of others.

reading the comments, I wonder how many people think and realize that it's very common for police on bikes to take advanced racing classes and practice day in and day out before they're allowed that privilege of being on a bike, something more people need to realize is, in many cases police that worked their way up to a sports bike are some of the best non-reputable racers on the streets. While the law breakers are obviously a danger, to the competent cop it might be just a fast paced cruise.

The word sir is ONLY capitalized in when referring to a persons title (Sir Elton John) . However neither sir or ma'am are capitalized if they are not the first or last word in a sentence.

I know someone who had a brand new triumph sprint ... he was going down a by-pass when a sports bike pulled up along side nods and starts reving up ... next they both go at it ... my friend reaching a top end of 140mph... when he finished that stretch of road there were 2 police cars waiting for him ... result is he got his licence taken and his bike went back to the dealers ...this is the kind of stunts there pulling out there ! i do like speed but im gonna save and maybe get a track day

This is not a race or hard riding, I own a ducati 1198s and have been on a race track with it and if a guy on a sports bike had been racing he could have left this cop in no time at all. The cop was more wreckless, I certainly wouldn't have followed the guy when the cop did. Its very rare to see a bike racing on the road using the potential. Sure we need to be safe but the copper was talking shit.

The police rider has lots of opportunity to pull him over, have to admit, the standard of riding by both was poor. If the policeman had identefied himself using the blue lights etc the motorcyclist would probably have pulled over. All this did was let him break even more laws.
