He should have totally left a Death Note piece in his shoe or sock, so that if he ran away like he did, he could use his last bit of strength to kill those on the task force. And that she needs to kill the following (Names) Just my idea on things.

Light was an awesome villain, actually sent shivers down my spine but as he lost he became a pathetic little bitch. i was watching this with a friend and as he died i was like come on man got out a badass, die with dignity instead of crying and spazzing in your own blood. just admit defeat and say some awesome last words and flip them the bird (that what i'd do and that would have been funny to see) i'm sure they did that for a reason though. Light really needed to have a backup plan. Hoping your partner could walk up to the door and secretly write down names is incredibly reckless, especially without testing the note for such an important event. I don't accept this ending.

This is one of my favourite anime endings...Even though it makes me cry...It just makes you think back to everything that happened, everyone's hardships, and how far light has fallen... It was really well done...
It's rare for me to say this, but I think that the ending in anime of Death Note was better than in the manga, in the manga he lost his cool and started screaming was begging everyone for help, and continued to beg until he died (however his dying pic was fucking epic). Whereas in the anime he wasn't begging he was planing it out, he didn't just start screaming and they way he finally died in this was awesome, but in the manga I just lost all respect for him.
So, really nothing changed in the world since after this, the world goes back to normal (i.e. full of crime) after Kira is forgotten from existence. It's really sad since all Light wanted to do was create a peaceful world; I understood he became a murderer but I'm pretty sure that in the beginning of the series, he said that he would have to sell his soul to bring peace to the world. I really wish there was another way to fix the world; I'd have liked to see Light's dream achieved.

L died as a man, looking to his past and heirs in one, forgiving his accuser and bowing out with grace. 6:24 Light dies as a child, his smallness revealed to him but beyond his ability to truly understand, like every sociopath he suffers. I feel his numb helplessness makes his death so much more tragic than L's.

I like the symbolism in the anime version. He's on the stairway, caught in the nothingness between heaven and hell, because neither will have a human who has used the death note.
@ALIASsucksatSC2 Well in fact it is indirectly stated in the manga that all humans go to the same place who is neither hell or heaven.Same thing for shinigami who happen to die,they're not really all mighty Gods but superior creatures that live in another dimension.So Light will go the same place as everyone else,in nether.
The manga version is a whole lot better than the anime version. Dont get me wrong,the anime version is good too,but the manga has a lot more details on Lights ideas,plus his death is WAY more dramatic.

Though I despise Light, I sypmpithised with him at the very end. This world is rotten, and we shouldn't just accept that. Though his intentions were good, Light was consumed by madness. In the end Light was still a bad person, but I still cried when he died, just like I did when L died.
I was watching Naruto Shippuden, and decided to watch this to let some more episodes come out... WOW. just WOW. This has been one of the best animes I think if ever seen, Its so full of intelligence and thought... It made me want to study, seriously what show makes a person want to solve some rubix cubes?.. or something??!! Its just so awesome... Light just a power crazy kid who was... doing the right thing at first, but when you start killing innocent people... thats when Its no longer justice.

The death note series went downhill since L died, after near and mello appeared, it seems Light made 1 careless mistake after another that could've been prevented. It was obvious they'd use paper to communicate in the hotel without cameras. It's also very stupid for him to publicly announce to his opponent that he's won before they even died. I thought Ray Penbar's wife would anticipate what Kira wanted her to do after admitting he's kira, followed the anticipated wishes and snitch afterwards.
It's so funny how all L-Fangirlz/boyz rage on Light, because he killed him. Bet you they wouldn't be so pissed off at Light if he didn't. After all what those people don't get is, that Light actually had a good reason and all that "I AM GOD"-shit was just to make this show more badass, because an anime needs moments like that where their characters go apeshit.

i always hated the ending of death note and still do.Light looks retarde, though i cant blame him, everyone just stared at him like "wtf?"which i also find hilarious, but the real reason is because near is a dutch bag. fuck him, hes a copy of L. Hes way to young to be the detective who "destroyed" Kira. He has a bad attitude. Is annoying as hell. aaaaaaand he just plain sucks. spam if you want but this is my opinion

@Animegottalive I agree with you. Near did not deserve to win at all, as it was because of Mikami's mistake that he was able to catch Light. They shouldn't have made Light seem like such a madman, he too epic for that and he's such a genius. He may have had the wrong morals, but his planning was simply amazing! Also, watching it in Japanese is so much better than the retarded English dub, but the ruined it by having Light crack like this. But then again, it probably would happen to anyone.

@JunkTide23 Not to ANY EXTENT. We all wanted to see Light actually win. Even at the very end when light is running away.. I still had hope that it would turn around.. Every time I watch the series I hope that it'll change.. (never does) -_- xD I think it would have been a good idea if they made two endings to the show. One like this, and then one were Light comes out on top.

I feel a little sypathy for Light because at the very end he knows he wished he wouldn't of ever picked up that death note or never of been born for that matter. But i still don't think light should've won but i feel that pain he feels. He finally understood that hed done wrong for the murders. And im glad for that. *looks up at the horizen* (;

L died as a man, looking to his past and heirs in one, forgiving his accuser and bowing out with grace. 6:24 Light dies as a child, his smallness revealed to him but beyond his ability to truly understand, like every sociopath he suffers. I feel his numb helplessness makes his death so much more tragic than L's.

The laughing was probably for him laughing and swearing at Matsuda shooting him. But the actual death I don't believe anyone can laugh at it. Even though Light (In some eyes) was evil... you just can't laugh at it. I wasn't bawling my eyes out but I did shed a tear from Ryuk's speech. And... I too wanted him to win. :[

I like the symbolism in the anime version. He's on the stairway, caught in the nothingness between heaven and hell, because neither will have a human who has used the death note.

The manga version is a whole lot better than the anime version. Dont get me wrong,the anime version is good too,but the manga has a lot more details on Lights ideas,plus his death is WAY more dramatic.

@Cannibalizer93 I think both ending are very good.Althought I prefered the manga ending,this one is pretty well done.The idea of showing the old light confident and still clean and now him crawling is a strong image.Either way I also consider that Light didn't deserve such ending,he was still very interesting beside his ideas

Thats not yagami light at all,as ryuk said :P As for the ending,well nothing could be done,thats the sad part the "good" always has to win in the end >.< Normally he should have won the game,him outsmarting L who was way smarter than mello or N

@Cannibalizer93 But Near said that him alone or Mello alone could not have won but together they could match or even surpass L.Plus you have to remember that those 2 already had part of the Kira case files from L so they didn't start without any clues. L had a lot more work to do,starting from zero

Though I despise Light, I sypmpithised with him at the very end. This world is rotten, and we shouldn't just accept that. Though his intentions were good, Light was consumed by madness. In the end Light was still a bad person, but I still cried when he died, just like I did when L died.

I was watching Naruto Shippuden, and decided to watch this to let some more episodes come out... WOW. just WOW. This has been one of the best animes I think if ever seen, Its so full of intelligence and thought... It made me want to study, seriously what show makes a person want to solve some rubix cubes?.. or something??!! Its just so awesome... Light just a power crazy kid who was... doing the right thing at first, but when you start killing innocent people... thats when Its no longer justice.

The death note series went downhill since L died, after near and mello appeared, it seems Light made 1 careless mistake after another that could've been prevented. It was obvious they'd use paper to communicate in the hotel without cameras. It's also very stupid for him to publicly announce to his opponent that he's won before they even died. I thought Ray Penbar's wife would anticipate what Kira wanted her to do after admitting he's kira, followed the anticipated wishes and snitch afterwards.
