Lastly, think about what this represents. It's a great divide on socio-economic terms. If you're rich enough to have the Judicial branch work for you, the Constitution does not matter. This is something that any of our forefathers would truly have an issue with. The greatest anti-American thing to happen is the overcriminalization of the American people.
With the blogs, they had proof from the industry of operating legally. Copyright infringement is a dubious claim, used as a scapegoat for the movie business's bad business model. John Morton can't see that? Or perhaps it's because of Biden. These seizures have done quite a bit of harm to the US. The fact that Morton, Biden, and Espinola think that only the MPAA/RIAA matter is very selective policing. It's sad that our government is picking favorites in such a manner.
@exodiathecoolone There's so much wrong here. First, he has merged the issue of child pornography with policing the internet. While they may have taken out 30 sites from their list, there was NO hearing for these people the first time around. I remember asking about NV back in July with no response whatsoever. There, they did a raid on their house. How was that procedure? Then, there has been a mass exodus of sites from the US, so we can't collect tax revenue from those sites. Continued-
Lastly, he didn't follow due process with the domain name seizures. He took the domain names of hip hop blogs, who were sent the songs that were used as evidence against them, by the record labels themselves. That was a clear violation of due process and a limiting on the 1st Admendment.
Also...copyright infringers don't invest in the next technological advance? Yes they do, at least in the hard drive industry. They download files and want somewhere to put them. They pay for a hard drive, thus investing cash in the hard drive industry. What Morton here is thinking that a copyright infringer doesn't put money into the economy: they do, just not to the copyright owner. They still spend in other areas.
so...copyright infringers automatically don't pay taxes or healthcare? A false assumption. They obviously would pay taxes on their income and many of them do have healthcare plans.
Mr. Morton, I do not wish to be in your shoes...if there is God, or if there is not....I really hope you sleep well.......
