  • i like notepad a LOT more.

  • Also, if you're programming in Java, I suggest you use Eclipse IDE.

  • I think SciTE made notepad++.

  • Two words, Open Office.

  • Three words, Sublime Text 2.

  • How do you learn advanced techniques with SciTE? Is there any documentation that can teach you?

  • Thank you. I knew that Apple TextMate fanboy shit was all a big bucket of horse piss.

  • How do you turn on autocomplete? I've been trying to get it to turn on but I can't understand the faq

  • @doorwindow7 It's probably missing the language definition file. I put a new link in the description to the ones I made.

  • How to do stuff from this video on windows? Holding Ctrl while selecting don't turn text into column of text.

  • @rapsod1911 You may have to get version 2.22 from the scintilla download page

  • I like bluefish on linux because it have auto complete features for html.

  • @ilikepez I think it is closely related to Notepad+ for windows. One of many that (re)use the Scintilla editing component.

  • Nice demo! I use it all the time for a notepad replacement and I program perl in it, but I don't know half of the powerful features and capabilities that I should.

  • I use SciTe, its one of the best script editors ive used. If not the best.

  • For hard core programming why use a text editor anyway, that's what IDEs are for like Netbeans which supports almost every major language known to man and is immensely powerful.

  • I'm presently using Gedit on Linux, but after this video I have download SciTE and will give it a try, it looks very interesting.

  • Its SciTe is short for Script Editor.

    Yes, it can be used as a text editor, but essentially a script editor.

  • notepad++ and visual studio editor :)

  • NP++ is based off of SCiTE.

  • ultraedit ftw on windows.

    It's user friendly and as powerful as any other text editor aimed at power users.

  • vim and emacs can easily do what you showed in your video.

  • I like vim, but I have trouble sharing that sentiment.

  • already using it, but thanks

  • Thanks, seems like a very nice editor, I'll give it a go!

  • Cool. Make sure to try out some of the user-supplied add-ons linked off of the page in the description. They really make it interesting.

  • Wow, that is a scarily powerful editor. What os were you running?

  • That happens to be Linux, but SciTE is available for most other OS as well.

  • Thank you very much!!!

  • That's what I'm here for.
