@mremogirls4life I hope you realize just how moronic you look. You say the reviewer is an idiot yet your punctuation, grammar, and spelling are atrocious. You are very clearly the idiot here. The review was fine and while you are bitching about teenagers, you are currently being told off by one.
@MrEmogirls4life Care to elaborate on what is wrong with teenagers doing reviews. Plus please control your mouth, I am sure we can be mature about this.
@MrEmogirls4life HP did not launch the device in North America and the Camera is definitely not on par with the IP4S or Galaxy S2. And yes i realized afterwards that it does have a front facing camera.
Such a waste of money for HP to buy webOS only to kill it. The OS looks sooooo good and may have been a nice competitor to Android and iOS had it got more love and support.
I think webOS had a lot of failed potential. Now that it's open source, maybe the crowd that was behind MeeGo and the Tizen guys can come around and improve it for all devices, and we can have a solid open choice aside from Android (the development model of which is not very community-oriented).
From the review, I think this phone is very good, although not perfect. I think webOS could be closer to perfect, now, if we play our cards right (oho, see what I did there?).
Do you know where I can find an unlocked Verizon verison of this device for $250 or less. I couldn't find any on eBay. I loved the video it was very helpful.
You noted that the device isn't up to 2011 standards, and in a few respects I agree. A single core processor isn't too fast, and only 500 MB of RAM isn't great. However, I'd like to point out that it's less about what the specs are, but how the device uses it. There are too many Android devices that rock 2 core GHz processors and 1 GB of RAM, that are laggy because the OS isn't optimized for them. Does webOS seem optimized for the Pre 3, or is it slow and laggy?
@Ishcoa The pre 3 is not a laggy device in most apps. But the browser is not up to todays standards. When I say "todays standards" I am not referring to bad android phone or what. When I say that I am referring to the best of todays devices. AKA iPhone 4S, Galaxy Nexus, HTC Titan. If you are really planing on buying the device , I would turn you off cause of how bad most of the apps are. But fun for a collectors device.
Thanks for the reply. I'm interested in the Pre mainly because of webOS, I loved the original Pre (I would've got myself one if it was on Rogers as Bell doesn't, operate in Manitoba) and my Touchpad is great. Preware is also a great reason to buy a webOS device, it can really improve the device's functionality. Whether the Pre would be a good phone for me though, is a difficult decision. I don't care about apps very much, but I do TONS of browsing. I also love to multitask.
@Ishcoa If you do tons of browsing I really would not recommend it. It is possibly the most disappointing part of the drive for me. Its really not fast or smooth. I used to be a big pre lover and letting go of webOS is hard but the faster you do the better. If you want webOS multitasking I would recommend ice cream sandwich. Its just like cards but horizontal swiping. Go get yourself a Galaxy Nexus and you will be one happy camper.
Thanks, that gives me lots to think about. WebOS definitely has its string points, I tried out a Galaxy Nexus and although its multitasking is good, I still prefer that of webOS. It really puts it front and centre. It also offers a physical keyboard. However, the browser really concerns me, is it really that bad? How does it compare to, say, the Bold 9900?
good honest review, the apps is my only problem with this phone but I don't use them much anyways mostly just productivity stuff and it works for me. I bought my official ATT Pre 3 for 185 on ebay :). I did wanna let you know that it does actually have a front facing camera. Now the only way I've found to use it is if you install skype and use it to video call. Works great!
@Ramos13192 Thanks. It does have a front facing camera, I thought it did than it did not. Anyway funny how it does not work in the camera app. Anyway enjoy your collectors item, I sure am enjoying mine.
@TheNecromancer077 Thanks, I always try to highlight whats bad and good about using a phone as a daily driver. In this case, this phone is more of a shelve piece.
I rock an iphone 4 have been since launch day, getting kind of bored of IOS and this phone. Will be getting a nexus prime, when it hits.
About the galaxy s2, its a great phone but the galaxy nexus is just the next level I would recommend that.
@TheTechtainian I have a mini pro(Sony Ericsson) :/ its very small and kinda fatty... but its cool the desing
Im want a new cellphone... im want more the S2 than any other phone...
about the nexus i dont think i will get this phone either if they sell this for 100$ becouse of the screen that is 4.65" its too big for a person, but i have to admit that its the best phone till now
@pixelatedjoe As far as I can tell they never released it there which means you never will get it :(. Also they did release the touchpad and according to a forum there is no asian keyboard support, so if ya import your going to have a problem. Not to mention the bands which I am unsure of for the asian market.
well done sir. my bro is a die-hard webos fan..he was thinking about getting this phone. I recommended Ice Cream Sandwich instead :) ..after all ..matias duarte designed both webos and ICS :D
I agree, I was never sold on android, loved webos. now android has all the goodness of webos + the greatness of android. and no hardware buttons, finally.
@backdoorman1971 Yeah I think I may sell this phone, really want a galaxy nexus. But on the other hand I like this phone quite a lot. Pretty incredible how matias has included cards in android now. You just swipe from the side, lol. And the just type interface is on ICS the persistent bar at the top.
Reminds me of the galaxy nexus for some reason
