Let's not forget, when it comes to suicide, it's possible you've lost all rational thought at that moment, it's not rational to kill yourself anyway. Don Lapre had been a scam artist since the 80's when he and his wife were busted by the Arizona Attorney General for selling a fraudulent credit card scheme. That was long before the classified ads infomercials.
Lapre had other run-ins and charges filed by law enforcement in several states. But the feds aren't the states. When he was criminally charged by the feds, he knew his jig was up and he took his own life.

Don Lapre had been a scam artist since the 80's when he and his wife were busted by the Arizona Attorney General for selling a fraudulent credit card scheme. That was long before the classified ads infomercials.
Lapre had other run-ins and charges filed by law enforcement in several states. But the feds aren't the states. When he was criminally charged by the feds, he knew his jig was up and he took his own life.

@sethaus75 I don't assume he was perfect, but I also don't presume to know him. I was mainly pointing out the fact that regardless of what he may or may not have done, cruelty is unnecessary. It'd be nice if people weren't so hateful all the time, but it would be even nicer if people weren't so hateful as a result of simple media reporting that only touched on the fact that this person was facing fraud charges. Don Lapre was fucking awesome. I can't tell you how many times I stayed up until 2 in the morning watching his "Making Money" infomercials as a teenager. I was totally convinced that I was going to make $52,000 a week placing tiny ads in...well, you know the schtick. (I eventually did end up buying the fucking thing.) I hadn't really given him much thought since the Making Money ads had run their course. I didn't even know he was hustling vitamins. Anyway, RIP Don Lapre, huckster extraordinaire.

I still haven't figured out what he was 'buying in selling' 17 or 18 years ago. He should have started up a 900 number that people could call so they could find out what he was buying and selling, and then he could have charged them $12 a minute. You wouldn't believe how much money he would have made placing tiny classified ads showing everyone his 900!!! He could have placed the ad in over 3,000 newspapers across the country!
