Stena Line's move from rail-connected, integrated, historic Stranraer to dis-integrated Cairnryan is a sad moment for Belfast-Britain connections.
At Stranraer, you can walk off the ferry straight onto the train with direct rail connections to Glasgow for Birmingham, London, wherever - integrated transport!
Cairnryan is in the middle of nowhere, requring an HOUR stuck in a bus to connect with the UK rail network at Ayr.
A retrograde step, which will cause much passenger inconvenience.
@markgideonsmith Very sound points. Whatever was the reason for this move? Could Stena not have upgraded the Stranraer terminal? And there will quite likely be another consequence. With the crazy scheme of busing passengers from Ayr, usage of Stranraer station will decline, and this may lead to the closure of the line. This is seriously stupid.
