Some one plz answer me I want to get a female this weekend but I need to know if it won't work. If it doesn't then I will choose one of my male gerbils to go with the female for a bit while the other stays away... But if it will work then I'll leave them all together and separate the male and female when she get pregnant. BUT I NEED TO KNOW IF IT WILL WORK SOON!!!

@pixyblu051273 Please don't. In the gerbil world love triangles always end up terribly - two males fight over a female until one of them is dead. You shouldn't keep gerbils in 3 either. Always keep couples, or groups of 4,6,8 and so on. If the number is odd, sooner or later the third gerbil is excluded from the group and bullied by others. Before you decide on breeding gerbils, please get the substantial information on gerbil's pregnancy and breeding (search in the net!)

Always remember this:If you separate gerbils for a long time, they won´t know each other after that, so be careful.But this could work:if a female has a rut you can put it together with males.But if you keep yours females and males togerher when the babies born, male and female will mate right after birth.

It's those little pellet things that look like guine pig food or something but they are ok to use so I've heard. My bedding is a mixtue of Aspen toilet paper and after their through with toilet paper rolls cardboard

@xGuitarGirl739x i'm a sure your gerbil is fine if she is walking normally and eating, my gerbils have fallen plently of times and they never seemed to be affected ( they jump ). though look to see if there are no broken bones and make sure she is drinking and eating. sometimes gerbils isolating themselves after a fall means that they are recovering from a shock. don't worry but be careful next time when your friends hold your gerbils

instinct.

ALL gerbils need nests, so that they feel safe. For example, in the wild, gerbils run into their burrows and nests when they are scared.

@optimusmikey if they are in the same cage together, they have probably already mated. You can expect to see babies in a little more that 3 weeks. You need to separate the male as soon as you can SEE the mother is pregnant. Gerbils mate right after their young are born and sometimes they mate just before their babies are born. Removing the male from the cage ensures you don't have an unwanted second litter.
