Please understand that and external site can never find your EXACT location, only your ISP knows your full address and it is in no way hidden in the IP address, however the ISP own a bunch of IP addresses and they give out for example 83.xx.xx.xx to a certain city. So the site that is referred to in this video can only find your city, not your home address. However it isn't even sure that it will state the right city.

@SanyaIVLitvyak To add to this, I once ran into a cyber suicide threat. The e-mail came from Canada and I live in Sweden. I don't know this person's full name/address or anything. However IP addresses are easy to get out of E-mails. I contacted my local police right away and gave them the IP. This was just some few minutes after the letter, and I also gave them the ISP (Canadian ofc) So the Local police contacted the ISP, got the address and then contacted the canadian police. Continuing...

It took them 12 hours from that the e-mail was sent to that when they finally arrived at the address of the person, I know this since the person told it to me, appeared to be false alarm though. But that's not the point, Point is, it doesn't take a few seconds to get the exact location, it even took the police longer than a few hours. And don't expect them to tell it to you.

@PlasticOnFire Might be a bit hard because they are local I.P. addressed. This means that they are invisible on the internet side of your router, only visible on the LAN side. If however you set up port forwarding to each computer though...

Even if these websites did return the original IP, the service would only show the servers. What is the point in that? What is the point of finding out their location anyway.

@MaRiuSeNN1 I suppose you could use social engineering to get a user to send you an email from an email service that sends the originating IP (their IP, unless they're using a proxy) in the email header, and then trace that.

Gmail and I -think- yahoo (feel free to verify :) ) DO NOT send the originating IP, though there may be more services than just these 2.

It will look something like this:

This doesnt tell you their location, at the best it will tell you their city, when tracking an IP it only gives you the location of their internet provider, if you wanted the exact location of a persons IP you would need to hack their internet providers system and go through their records to see which account holder that IP was given too and then go through that account holders records and you will be able to see all their personal info, name, address, credit card, bank account etc.

@SANHEDRIN666 That's because your ip isn't really your ip but the ip from the ISP. So it is regisetered there. Also due to a lack of ip-adresses a lot of them use submasks to divide the IP's they have.

If you do something illegal at first the FBI or whoever get's to the ISP and they need to check the logs and say that's that person
