  • i luv joey bishop, he is so funny!

  • And for those of you who don't know Newport Beach is is currently one of the wealthiest communities in California and consistently places high in United States rankings.

So maybe the people there are just stuck up snobs who didn't like having a guy who was born in in the Bronx, New York hanging out with them.

Since he was married to Sylvia from 1941 to 1999 (her death) maybe he wasn't such a bad guy at all, or why did she stay with him for 58 years?

  • EXTREMELY well done compilation and tribute. Thank you very much.

  • I have to add: the only people in Newport Beach who didn't loathe him were the stagestruck few who idolize anyone who is well known. He was universally detested.

  • His wife Sylvia was very sweet. Smart, charming, private, and funny. I knew her well. Joey was quite a jerk and completely self-absorbed. Sylvia's few friends couldn't even get in the house to see her as she died of cancer; when Joey finally died his nurse Nora had a new title : "longtime companion" . She gave the press release that mentioned the rat pack in detail but did not even mention that he had had a wife for nearly fifty years, and a surviving son that Joey ignored. RIP Sylvia

  • Hmmm then why was he in his son's movie in 1996?

Mad Dog Time aka Trigger Happy.

But that's ok feel free to talk trash about him - after all he is dead and unable to defend himself.

  • I know it isn't the greatest to say something about a dead person who can't defend himself, but if you had known his wife and their situation as their friends did, it would make more sense. That's all. She was a really nice woman.
