Albania was part of the Byzantine empire and as for the language, lingusitics have proven that the albanian language is older than greek. Even your sources are contradictory claiming epirotes as barbarians in certain writings and greeks in others. i have to agree with you, its impossible today to say who were who, nationalism was born only in the 18-19 century, before that no one really cared. and probably the cultures in the balkan were mixed, especially between greeks and albanians. the great division between this two cultures began with the invasion of the ottoman empire.
