... sweeeeet soul music with a damn funky edge. Those were the days when disco was real funky. A big hand also for Don Cornelius who gave so many artists an opportunity to get wider recognition. Respect, Don !!! - R.I.P.
@azeleapark lol...kind of for me also... everytime I hear this song, reminds me of me driving on the highway.... cause that where I ws on the Grand Central.
@bun223 You SOB how dare you... j/k yeah it probably was lip-synced but that was a common practice back then. Shows either didn't have the budget, or simply didn't want the expense of a band and sound equipment.
Lip-syncing was accepted, for the most part, back in the day but try that now and people go crazy.
@fiascodegama In the 60's and through the 90's lip-synching to the record was very common. Many TV shows saved budget money by having the artists lip-synch instead of setting up the room and equipment and labor necessary to do it live. Soul Train and American Bandstand are two examples of this. A handful of artists hated lip-synching so much, (or were so bad at it), they refused to appear unless they were allowed to bring their bands and perform live.
People need to understand history and pay homage because before there was an Alicia Keys there was Patrice Rushen multi talented and able to put it down she was no joke and best believe without this woman there would be no Alicia Keys
@MrRocDaSpot20 Exaactly I dont understand wasup with these people they act like a alicia keys just came out of the earth or something if it werent for Patrice and other classic women artists music would be even worse than it already horribly is no respect at all!!

While most often, the perfomrers lip synched (because it was cheaper)...there were PLENTY of performances that were LIVE on Soul Train.
