  • For the double stick DI, do you simply hold the control stick and C-stick in those directions before being hit, while being hit, or immediately after being hit?

  • lol european di?

  • How exactly do you DI?

  • @ShortMindedTV just tilt the control stick in the direction you want to go. You can use it too escape combo's too.

  • I'll DI for you, but you won't do the same?

  • @bonestorm99 Why doesn't your comment have 700 likes

  • @kevo31415 Because I didn't beg for it XD

  • @A2nSensati0n i dont get it whatz DI?

  • The people below bring shame upon us nerds >:(

  • LMAO Nerd rage two posts below me xD

  • This entire video is fake, Nobody Survives the PAWNCH!!!!!

  • How did u do massive eruopean d?

  • @p4r0xysm42

You MUST be European, and you MUST be massive. :o

  • @p4r0xysm42 changed the handicap... cheated.

  • isnt this just jumping in mid air and then b up?

  • @JasonG1s lol ssbb, the joke game with momentum cancel. GTFO

  • @JasonG1s Dear god. Why are you trying to explain Melee DI with Brawl mechanics DI? Are you mentally impaired?! I wish Youtube didn't remove the minus thumbs in Red option...because I'd love to see you at -34 thumbs for the most dumb post in weeks that I even logged in to ridicule you with. GGs. No counter pick. Straight to losers bracket.

  • @JasonG1s

    1. DI has nothing to do with specific characters. Snake and Wario are just heavy.

    2. There are some cases where DI'ing at 140% (Yoshi's Story) is more difficult than DI'ing at 200% (Dreamland).

    3. SSBM and SSBB have somewhat different DI mechanics. But in general, SSBM requires strictly good DI, while SSBB relies also on momentum cancels and magnetic ledges.

  • @JasonG1s lol You have no idea what you're talking about.

  • DI survival is just so awesome if you can do it right. =D

    Nice video.

  • well......obviously Cap'n had thrown his arm out with those first to Pawnch's. =)

  • The last one should be "FAAAALCON... Tickles!!"

  • MASSIVE EUROPEAN DI!

  • @Nyckid64 how come every super smash bros video i look at i see you in the comments

  • Pft, we all know Captain Falcon was holding back on that last one.

  • FAAAALLLLLCCCOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNN PPPPPPAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNNCCCHHHHHHHHHHHHH!... wait he only went that far?!?!?!? FFFFAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLCCCCCONNNNNNNNNNN RUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!

  • @silentasasin93 falcon runs from no man

  • why do u use the c stick as well? and why not the same way as the control stick ?

  • @relyanddefy

When you are in hitstun, you can move slightly in any direction. That movement is called Smash DI. You can Smash DI by hitting the control stick in a direction during the hitstun, or the easier method of holding the C-stick. If you hold the C-stick right and you get punched to the left, you will actually move to the right before you go flying away, which not only stops you from going as far, but can help you aim into the ground or ledges for techs.

  • People still think the last one is fake? Wtf, try it yourself people lol. Crouch Canceling makes an unbelievable difference

  • Last clip is fake. DI'ing does not decrease knockback; it makes the line of trajectory longer. Also, you used handicap for the last clip.

    WHERE YOU AT?!

  • @Silaeru You just lost when you said DI makes the line of trajectory longer.

  • @Kaffei4Lunch

I wasn't speaking literally, I assumed the reader had some intelligence to know that. Of course it does not make it longer. If you want me to be more technical, DI makes the knockback take longer to reach a specific distance.

  • sorry; i removed it

    =)

  • Lol, it's fine, happens alot. XD

  • You can tell the scrubs from the good players when they actually ask how to do european di...

  • how do u do the european thing??

  • heheh...candy butt...

  • @dwb17 I made the account when I was younger, lol

  • third one is fake, using a handicap to fly not so far.

  • @RockLobsta23 it's not with handicap.

the fact is that stale moves are in melee too.

  • @Jolly2Lolly move decay sure, but youre a tard if you think this move decay. It OBVIOUSLY isnt.

  • @RockLobsta23 REALLY CAPTAIN OBVIOUS?

  • @XiahouYuan111 I wasn't talking to you, captain retard.

  • @RockLobsta23 It's obvious that handicap was used on the 3rd DI clip, you don't need to point out obvious stuff.

  • @XiahouYuan111 NO SHIT, I wasnt talking to you, I was telling the retard who thought it was stale moves. You know when it says my name @ blahblah some other name IM NOT TALKING TO YOU.

  • @RockLobsta23 Look on the highest voted thumbs, I don't see any @insertnickhere, so I never knew you were saying it to somebody

  • @XiahouYuan111 Funny...I called RockLobsta23 captain obvious as well...without seeing your post. Great minds think alike, no?

  • @wabitgirl Haha, indeed lol

  • @RockLobsta23

    no shit

  • @RockLobsta23 RLY?! HOW DO U NO DAT U R SO SMRT!

In other news, thank you Captain Obvious.

  • @wabitgirl Actually, the obvious maybe not so obvious.. you can actually DI like that.

  • @Gallanthor Really? I trust you, as you are The Warrior...but how do you do it?

  • now i figured out how to use it!! thanx!! now its time to falcown pawnch the shit outta pikachu....been gettin on my nerves for quite some time now, lol

  • Lol those crazy Europeans

  • hey thanks mate ^-^

    now i can DI

    thanks 5*

  • lmaoo

  • Legit video, anyone who says otherwise hasn't tried it lol

  • Hasn't tried what! A2nSensati0n didn't tell us how to do it.

  • 1st is no DI, 2nd one is DI with ASDI right, 3rd is quarter circle DI w/ DI, ASDI right, and crouch cancel

  • for all the naabs being *sure* that the last DI aint possible: look up quarter stick di + cc

  • I looked up "quarter stick di+ cc", "quarter stick di cc", and "stick di ssbm" without quotation marks on YouTube and didn't find anything related to SSBM.

  • This is total bullshit, there's no way Bowser goes that fast with 49% from a Falcon Punch. The guy probably changed the dmg ratio or whatever to make hits deal less to greater knockback.

  • try it and be amazed.

  • A falcon punch is ALWAYS that epic.

(this comment was a joke, don't take it seriously.)

  • You obviously are underestimating the power of Captain Falcon. Somewhere, someway, he 's looking at you, planning to Falcon Punch you to your senses and witness his true manly greatness. :D

  • i still dont get it how do you di?

  • How did he do the european DI

  • just damage ratio for fun ^^ it's not possible with basic ratio

  • dont u jus want to di the opposite way that your hit? someone answer plz

  • you can't directly fight the physics of the game. You can only direct yourself anywhere that is basically 180degrees in the direction of the hit. The idea is to DI towards the top corners of the map so that you remain in the map boundary for longer.

  • @flow3232 No, you actually want to hold the control stick and c-stick perpendicular to the direction you are hit (e.g., if you are hit to the left, hold up

  • the last DI can't be, but the second really works:)

  • You didn't include west coast DI, where they hold left or down

  • Where I'm from, European DI means DI in the wrong direction, so i was expecting Bowser to go flying downward to his death. I'm a little disappointed :p.

  • Epic Comment xD

  • "yeah flame me"

    Okay! =)

    Europe sucks at Smash! =D

  • Armada would like a word with you.

  • Don't take the flame too seriously. It was meant to be a response to the guy above me, thus the quote preceding it.

  • I also used emotes to try and indicate I wasn't being serious but judging from the number of thumbs downs I get, I guess people are just too serious :( :( :( :(

  • I am sorry. I can't believe I let this get to me. I usually know better than this.

  • Its so ironic that the country with some of the greatest minds also has a large population of idiots, no?

  • not quite, many people = many stupid/clever people, thats all

  • We're still better at smash than you guys.

  • luck. pure luck. Look at how everybody 'cept for Mango got beaten by Armada + our top 2, 3 didn't even visit your tourney =/ + ntsc is completely different than Pal in terms of % dmg etc.

  • No it's not. The only thing that affected that match up is peach's dash attack which is less powerful in the pal version. Armada new what he was getting into otherwise he wouldn't have came to john that bullshit. See you at pound 4.

  • still: Marths Dair alone is sth one needs to get used to ... in the PAL version its utterly useless -> barely any marth players here... you got enuff of them that are really good hence it being a disadvantage for armada =3

the fact remains that neither amsah nor zepetto came to pound 3 hope they're cming for p4 tho' ...

  • @BloodFeather huh, his dair is worse in my version??

  • handicapped aid isn't a place

  • The Falcon Punch was fresh, but it may have been in 0.5 damage ratio.

  • Love your MGS references :D

  • the european one was fake......idiot

  • european di was just the damage ratio set to low, that one was faek

  • No. KevinM just drank DJ's.

  • That was the joke >_>

  • lol the C stick gives DI too??. lol what i woulda done is jsut held right, i guess thats wrong :P. Anyway, the euro DI at the end is just STALE obviously

  • yea i know i guess i wasn't thinkin. Stale sorda effects knockback since damage is lessened, and the knockback is determined by the end %. Yeah i know ur right just trying to prove im not an idiot ^^+

  • No big deal, brah. I only know it myself because somebody else told me. Wouldn't have figured it out myself. ;_;

  • wrong

  • Actually... Not true. Stale moves affect knockback in Melee too, itz just not nearly as noticeable in Melee as it is in Brawl

  • Oh...really? Thanks for pointing that out.

  • no prob

  • No, try it yourself. It affects knockback as well.

  • the only thing it does affect is knockback.

  • Comment removed

  • yes it is called double stick di

  • This video is fake. Nothing survives the PAWNCH.

  • CF obviously held back so he wouldnt destroy the universe.

  • @Irandara except bowser...haha

  • can one of you guys give me a tipp?

  • European DI = Handicap On

  • OMFG THAT TAKES THE EFF OUT OF WAY.

  • Haha n00b :D

  • More like Crouch Cancel to Double Stick DI...

  • If you're talking about the last one...no. C-stick does nothing to affect DI, it only affects SDI and ASDI, also Bowser didn't crouch cancel.

  • Your name should be changed to retardking2006.

  • And my name should be changed to hackysack2. So we can be happysack2 and hackysack2. Kkthx.

  • what means massive european di?

  • What means has grammar?

  • I don't get it what happens?

  • Basically, Directional Influence is which way your character will go when it's hit.

While being hit, there's a few frames (a small moment) where you can control your character. The video is showing the difference between using DI, and not using DI.

With good DI, your chances of surviving is greater, assuming you DI'd well enough. It's testing your reflexes more or less. Plus, DI can be used to get out of combos, chain-grabs, etc.

    It's pretty helpful.

  • u are an idiot... the last one is Crouch Cancel to Double stick DI... -.-'

  • @davidwinne0

You must have failed math if you cant do simple addition.

    55 + 27 = 82

    61 + 27 = 88

  • ROFL, I LOL'D SO MUCH

  • Your math is god fucking excellent good sir.

  • Agreed.

  • It's called Smash DI. It's real. Granted what he did may've been faked, I'unno.

  • think he faked the last one even with a quarter circle DI + ASDI + Normal DI u can't have that much difference from a normal DI + ASDI

  • its CC + quarter circle DI + ASDI + Normal DI

  • It was a joke. >_>

  • I need help with this.

Say im using link, and i just grabbed bowser (hes around 60-80%) If i hold both controller sticks down, he wont fly up as much as if i dont hold either of em down?

  • The person who gets hit is the one who's supposed to DI. If you were the one thrown, than yes, you would generally go in the direction you wanted if you hold both sticks.

  • So the one hitting has no control over where the target goes after being hit?

  • Well, yes, and no. If the hitter hits them aimed to the left, the DIer can go left, upper-left, etc. Maybe even up.

  • sorry but what is crouch cancel...

  • A crouch cancel (abbreviated CC) is a technique in both Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee used to reduce the knockback of an attack on the character. By holding down on the control stick before getting hit by an attack, the player will not be moved as far as normal, often stopping their movement completely at lower Damage Percentages. Crouch cancelling has the added effect of lowering the trajectory your character is sent after an attack.

see the smash wiki for more details :)

  • thank you very much :)

i will try that tomorrow :p

  • how do you do massive european di?

i know its a joke but how did u only get knocked that far

  • im pretty sure either they just put the damage ratio down (which i doubt)

or smash DI was used (quarter circle DI)

  • Crouch Cancel + ASDI + SDI + DI

  • What's asdi?

  • Automatic Smash DI = The direction you are already holding as you get hit.

Smash DI = Any direction you hit while in hitstun (when they make the weird face while getting hit)

  • I thought smash di was when you used c stick.

  • thats dual stick DI

  • Don't forget Dual stick DI

  • C stick is only used for ASDI, it's not a separate type of DI.

  • Ohh ok. Never mind me then XD. DI is still cool as hell.

  • +cc

  • OMG SUPER GAEM HACKRE

  • it was 27%, nice math

  • his damage changed every time he got punched. hardly a good demonstration (and what was the european di thing? AR?)

  • up right and right on cstick i dont get it lol

  • XD @ Massive European DI

I'd love to be able to do that all the time.
