he didn't say "fuck" because letterman is a family show, kinda. rather than just saying it, and getting them to beep it out.. he changed around the words so maybe an older audience would listen to the music knowing it wasn't full of cuss words. did that answer your question?
@LushLife I don't think it's for the family show reason, I just assumed because having it censored would negate the impact of the lyrics anyway, and it just makes much more sense to rework them. The line is sort of dramatically placed and having the climax of it be silence just ruins it.

I was annoyed that I couldn't watch this, however I knew it would be on youtube pretty soon. Also, if he's wearing as stupid white suit when I see him in July I'm SOOOO not going to be happy. What happened to the Conor who screams out his songs in a tatty shirt and jeans!!!
It makes more sense when you see him live. It's so that he and everyone on stage sink into the background so that the projector can be viewed over them. The show is breathtaking, don't worry :)
Well, "still brilliant though" I think determines that the colour of the suit isn't what's gona make me like the show or not...and yes, he grew up...still don't like the suit though.
And yay! I hope it's as good, no, better than last time I saw him. Last time was Glastonbury in 2005, and he was in a bad mood, the time before that was brilliant.
