i really don't know. I am very glad to see the economy picking up speed but I don't think the gov. has substantially improved on human rights. dissidents continue to be jailed, even some people who protest only for the rights of the poor farmers are also jailed.

Also I think Hu is more open minded than his predecessors but unfortunately the structure of the government prevents him from substantially improving human right.
