I don't like Ghestal's voice. It gives the feeling he's some gang leader, not the emperor of the world's most powerful country. He needs a more dramatic, less evil sounding voice. IMO :) Something more confident and stern and older sounding.

It was technically Square's first foray into voice acting in games, so it's understandable. But, as "bad" as X's voices were, this is not better (but it is good!).

I don't think "it was their first try" is a good enough excuse for Square-Enix. They're large and well-known enough to have concepts of what works and what doesn't and that horrifically fake laughing scene in FFX was the absolute worst moment in any game's dialogue ever.
