I played it recently, and I agree with you, as mean as it can be you don't wanna put it down because you have to beat your last score...and anyone elses.
I've had Devil's Crush since I was a kid. Absolutely the best pinball game ever made. Music was just about the best part. I ripped it and burned a cd a couple years back.
