  • BAN ALL BRONIES

  • @Freecell82 JESUS CHRIST, HOW MANY FREAKIN' NUMBERS DO YOU HAVE, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE?!?!

    Area code 978, radio graffiti.

  • Better plan on seeing Dubai on Youtube.

  • Back in high school, I used to have the hots for badges and decorations to wear; that sort of thing. But this Dragnet speech sure straightened me out in a hurry! And combat is just plain dangerous! -- about the only thing on your mind there is, will you live to see another day? That is to say, of life as you know it; or used to know it, anyway.

  • Job that doesn't pay overtime?! Well, that part isn't true.

  • did he use the word "d**k" at 1:06? I saw this episode for the first time today on the the "This" channel. I thought it was a good episode.

  • Jack Webb rules. Spend many sleepless nights listening to old Dragnet episodes. Also love Pete Kelley's Blues and I just discovered Pat Novak. He deserves a fucking Academy Award. One of the greats.

  • How come you cut the speech short? There was about another minute or so left in it..and you faded to the end of the episode.

  • @RayStantzGB Yeah, quite a bit missing from the speech.

  • Actually, he didn't have a 'script'--least not on paper...Dragnet was all filmed using a Tele-prompter. Jack Webb loved it since it allowed him to increase how much he could get filmed in a day or week and kept costs down. Great director that Jack Webb...and damned inspiring too.

  • Love how he keeps glancing down at his script...

  • the reality of this video states the truth of police today. when people complain about the police I just say they have to recruit from the human race

  • I still can't believe Kent McCord and Martin Milner didn't do more post Adam-12.

  • when i first saw this at 1:01 i laughed so hard!

  • Gotta love the ALL TYMPANI/KETTLEDRUM SCORE on this episode!

  • That's Kent McCord, pre Adam-12

  • @jasonpp1973 a criminal became a COP!?!

  • @indianadogz Actually Kent McCord's character was a cop - he was doing an undercover assignment in the "low rent district" and I think something went wrong, if memory serves. His girlfriend was also thinking of leaving him too. He was discouraged and was going to quit the force. Needless to say, Friday talks him out of it!

  • Its amazing to watch this video and see how relevant Joe Friday's comments are today, 40+ years after this video was made!!

  • They don't call it a Jesus speech for nothing

  • Jack Webb, you rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @JurassicOAI - Calm down pal. You take things too seriously. I actually enjoy Dragnet - but look ASSHOLE - it's pretty well known that Webb's speeches can be over the top. Try not to be such a hyper sensitive fucking asshole, ok? And just for the record, my brother is a cop, my nephew is a cop, my uncle is a cop, my brother in law is a cop, my grandfather (in law) was a cop, and on and on. They thought Webb was over the top too. But hey - I'll leave you alone to wack off to Joe Friday.

  • Sorry, I started laughing when he goes on his "Kids" run - it was just too much. Is it sad and true? Sure. But just listening to him deadpan rattle it off like it was coming off the top of his head was too much.

"....underfed kids, beaten kids, molested kids, lost kids, crying kids, homeless kids, hit and run kids, broken arm kids, broken leg kids, broken head kids, sick kids, dying kids, dead kids...." OK JOE - WE GET THE POINT.

  • @johnjms2- Hey, you don't like it you can make your one cute comment and then never, ever watch this again. You'll be better off, I am sure.

  • @johnjms2 Wasn't this where they got that song about what kids like Armor Hot Dogs? BTW, cute comment..hehahehahaa

  • The two things that I find incredible about this speech is that, with little if any exception, what Friday talks about is true. And, in spite of it all, so many people decide it's a career that's worth it anyway.

  • "You're a cop, a flatfoot, a bull, a dick, John Law, you're the fuzz, the heat, you're poison, you're trouble, you're bad news...." Actually, that all pretty much describes my ex-wife! LOL

  • @quirpco that line describes ALL of my ex-wives!!!!!

  • Did I see Kent McCord rolling his eyes?

  • God please send Jack Webb/Joe Friday back we need him so badly, we really do.

    Amen

  • his voice is hypnotizing

  • This is from "The Big Interrogation" [February 9, 1967]. Friday's closing line was, "There are over five thousand men in this city, who KNOW that being a policeman is an endless, glamorless, thankless job that's gotta be done. I know it too. And I'm damn glad to be one of them".

  • I just figured out that Jack Webb was married to julie london. I did some research and found out lots of things. I never knew that Joe Friday was Jack Webb untill about 10 minutes ago lol. I call joe friday monotone man

  • oh no, not the "joe speech"!

  • Aw...you cut it off before Joe was finished!

  • @Mattleycrue66 he didn't need to finish, the point was made about 10 seconds in.

  • Awesome!
