  • hi remy...what is the pickups of your pgm?

  • @PGBUCKETHEAD Tone Zone and Humbucker from Hell. PGBUCKETHEAD, I've answered tonnes of your pickup questions by now, haha! I think I'm stalking you

  • @YummyBananaFish wahahahahah...really?? i didn't notice that dude.....well thanks for answering my boring repeating questions...hahaha....i just want to gather information about pg's tone...again...i have an RG321mh and it didn't do well ..i've tried tonezone and its too bassy for the mahogany body...also tried Dimarzio FRED...very low output..but when i tried tonezone to my friends RG350ex ..yah it did great,,,high gain and it sounded similar to pg's tone...hehehehe

  • @PGBUCKETHEAD I'm glad you said that! I'm working on my 350 now, and Tone Zone was my top choice, so I'm glad it works well. I've got a mahogany Mockingbird as well, which I was gonna put Super Distortions in. Check out this address for plenty of PGM specs and info, btw:

    ibanez.co.jp/PGM20/

  • @YummyBananaFish hehehe...well IMHO...tone zone is for heavy stuff and distorted tones,,but don't expect good clean sound with the tone zone,,,and for the mahogany...i think you can try high output dimarzio's with low bass and mid,,, because mahogany already have lots of MID and the bass of mahogany is too hard compare to basswood which is soft that you can sustain the notes longer during fast picking or shredding...and i'm deciding what you put on the neck for the rg350..air norton or PAF PRO?

  • I want that guitar

  • Gotta love Ibanez

  • HEY REMY

maybe if you put the word 'lesson' or 'tutorial' in your title or video description, more people would find this great lesson and learn this great song

good job and keep it up

  • Good lesson, nice explanation and view of the guitar!

Also, I like your voice :P

  • Hey man, not sure if you respond to comments often, but if you do....I need some serious tips for vibrato technique....any suggestions??

  • Btw if anyone's buying a violin bow, don't expect to make noise on it at first, you need to coat it with like a resin to make it work on a guitar.

  • music theory wise what would be the scales he would be playing in?

  • @guitarnympho5 The Main part is in C# Minor( E Major)

  • 4 sharps :D basic theory student representing right here

  • Dude! That was awesome! You sound like the man himself.

  • Beautifull guitar!

  • congratulations man! but i have to say that the tapping is not like that

  • You mean the last tapping part of the chorus?

  • distortion is nice

  • hey bro nice playing hey wat zoom u using man sound like PG man . .

  • do u know how to play "the rhino" if so can u make a tutorial because i cannot find the tabs ANYWHERE!

  • Can I buy any of your PGM guitars. They don't sell those in Europe except the PGM400

  • I don't think he's going to sell'em. But where in Europe do they sell the 400?

You can't buy those models Remy got, in stores anymore. PGM 401 is the current model, and reissue's of the PGM 100 and 300 is going to be sold in stores this year. And of course you have the limited fireman which cost £6000. 401 is delayed for some reason, but the two other ones should be released this fall.

  • Sorry I meant PGM401. Of course they don't sell the PGM400 it's so rare! What do you mean by 401 is delayed?? You can buy it in store now! Also the PGM100RE which the reissue will be named is for 2666.66$ and the PGMFRM-1 for 10,000$. Both AMAZING looking guitars.

  • so pro!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love that version of the PGM. ketchup and mustard :)

  • superbly skilled

  • sick tone

  • Dude, loving your playing, loving your tutorial, loving how you somehow managed to get that tone, loving how you cut f-holes into your guitar to make it look like Paul's, loving your sick hair.

5 reasons to give this video 5 stars.

  • its a ibanez pgm 500 it is a paul gilbert model

  • i=I think paul uses a violin bow on the big sustained bend thing before going in to the main riff thing. Sick guy. Nice vid!

  • he does, but many people dont have it, so thats fine

  • yea i love how paul keeps everything simple from his playing to his guitar design to his tone it really is an awesome guitar i just got a similar RG not too long ago

  • beautiful guitar.. Paul Gilbert really has a good taste of guitar design

  • The only thing he did was to put the fake f-holes there... But still, awesome guitar :D

  • the color choices are pretty good to

  • they're all awesome...except maybe that one he played in the Green-Tinted Sixties Mind video...

i really wish i could afford a pgm

i hope the 600 wins the vote for a reissue

  • fantastic!!!

  • Hmm..what shall i say ? A perfect and clear lesson made by a a guy who plays with same guitar as paul guilbert ^^ 5 stars man you rock :) i subscribed and added u as a friend you can also check my guitar channel :)

    Peace

    Cya man

  • How are you damn near perfectly emulating Pauls tone? That's blowing my mind right now.

  • hey could someone pm me the tabs for the metal riff at 1:43

  • I said before that he only did put upp videos to show how good he is, and it actually looked like that before, but im sorry i said that, because this video shows something else, and you are a good teacher Remy SRY.

  • Don't sweat it man!

    Thanx,

    Remy

  • Dont really understand that.

  • thanx a lot.you have been helpful.

  • awesome guitar, im tossing up between a pgm301 or an RG ibanez

  • there the same guitar

  • pgm 301 or an RG 420EX in red arctic frost finish (prefferably with sustainiac pickups) are you sure their the same?? :p

  • there both ibanez, no ibanez come with sustainers

  • yeah, but you can add them, either that or just get the effects pedal for it.

  • the arpeggios are so hard for my fingers

  • haha dirtyness and speed !!!!! you still have to work on that a bit more.

this song is so awesome and sweet to the ears.

I want to learn this and norewgian cowbell by this dayz

  • You are amazing my friend!

Today Paul Gilbert plays at the ANN Club -

    Athens/Greece(20/10/2008)...i'm already there...!!!

  • Thanx man! I hope you've had a great time!!

I did! a few weeks back!

  • you re amazing dude! i mean, all your videos...

  • jesus that is such a sweet looking guitar

  • all PGM's kick ass

  • I'm drooling uncontrollably just looking at that guitar man.

    PGM's design is so unique.

  • tabs on the intro anyone

  • 5/5 fucking nice job.

  • u are my idol!....other than paul gilbert :D

  • dude, what drive pedal are you using?

  • "Those guitars go directly into my ENGL Powerball where I get the Distortion from ( Channel 3 , Low gain!) and I don't use any effects . So there's nothing in the loop."

    Says his profile.

  • I know it says this on his profile, but on this track it sounds like he's got a little bit of reverb on his tone. You can hear that it has this extra spatial depth to it. Either that or he the acoustics of his room are pro.

  • You are probably right.

  • Brilliant, just brilliant !!! Well done Remy - got to get my axe out and have a crack at some of that !

  • Great tutorial. Thank you very much!

  • tab that shit out on guitar pro lmao that would be sick.. fuck too bad i dun have my guitar with me.. its at my drummers house this is the song i want to learn the most out of his whole album

  • saw paul a few weeks ago in cardiff blew my mind

  • great guitar man. i have a PGM 400. i assume they play very similar. also, lovin' the tone. sounds great man. nice playin too :P

  • Oh, and I love your PGM Ibanez, I like the red one, though I prefer the maple fretboard, when was this guitar of yours built?

  • :)

Aye, unfortunately he was supporting Satch so he only ran through his new album and a couple of oldies.

Welcome to the RX board btw Remy ;)

  • Hey man, been looking for tabs for this song, but this is all I found, I hope that I can pick this up from your video lesson!!

Thanks for posting this, I got the pleasure of seeing Paul play just a couple weeks back on the 14th of May at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall with Joe Satriani, it was a great show, I got a copy of this album at the show to, and I really love this song and want to learn it so bad!

Don't suppose you have it transcribed in either guitar pro or power tab?

  • google "racer x asylum tabs" and go to the first link. silence followed by a deafening roar is tabbed in guitar pro along with quite a few others. check it out.

  • Just seen him live not 2 weeks ago in Glasgow, he used a violin bow to make that mad sound.

  • Lucky you!! Must have been a great show!

I know he uses a violin bow, I've seen it here on youtube!

  • I was there at that gig to, it was great, though Paul's set was quite short, I hope he comes back to tour this new album, as I want to see his own Show, as he didn't have all the cool lighting and back screen that Joe had at that gig, still though, it was amazing, even though I was up on the balcony, I had a birdseye view of the entire stage, and it was amazing!!!

  • Great videos. Thanks for figuring out the songs so I don't have to!

For the "roar" part after the intro's "silence" I think he uses a Third Hand pedal connected to a flanger.

    Nice guitars too :)

  • ANOTHER PGM!

  • And I just bought myself a brand new PGM 900 TC!

    :P

  • DAMN!

  • Do you know that there's videos, guitar tabs, and whatever u want on net so it's easy learn to play like Gilbert... Oh, but you do so moved by philanthropic purposes, no?

  • it's not easy to learn to play like PG.

  • Man where did you get that guitar?!! Oh god I would kill for a PGM!!!

  • remy videos overload o_O!!

  • You amaze me more and more with every video, awesome playing man!

  • can i have the tab???? this is so good^^ and im ur big fan!!!! remy
