Dari is short for Darbari - and as a Herati you do not speak it - you speak at best a Herati accented Persian - which is just as arbitrary as any other accent-dialect of Persian like Kabuli Persian, or Gardezi Persian or Kandahir Persian or Tehrani or Dushabi or Bukhari Persian.. The point is that neither you nor a Kabuli speak Dari - you only speak the common accent dialect of that area in which you grew up. The political use of the term for Dari is just political - not based on sound fact.

Babagul no son Tajiks dont look like mongolian. However there is always possible to find people who are the products of inter-racial marriages in any part of world. Turks are also married to Tajiks prodominantly in Uzbekistan and to lesser extent in northern Khorasan i.e. the towns you mentioned. Hence it is not surprising to find racially mixed people however they cannot solely represent one or the other race only albeit they may have strong culturo-linguistic allegiance to one only.

Tajik was term the turks used to describe Persian speaking people that lived in a city or a village and were not nomadic like the turks and mongols. and don not forget where Rostam was from. Tajiks are much Iranian as people from Gilan, mazandaran and Kurdestan. Iran was a great nation once and we were so populos that even after being massacared by Arabs, Mongols and Teymor, still enough if us survived in little but disjointed units. Tajiks and Afgghans and pashtuns are the remnants of it.

Tajiks should say they are Iranian and so should Afghans. A scotish person is not English but they can say they are British. Unfortuantely persian is what greeks called the whole Iranina nations. Korosh (Cyrus the great) was the King of all Iranian Kings not persians. He saw himself as Iranian and he happened to from the (PARS) persian tribe. If you look at the gilanis those who are originally gilanis they are Very white like caucasians and they might have color eyes. Although we should know that evolution is faster on edges than center of populations. So, if some of them look like turkmens or afghans that's due to the evolution and mating with people out of their speciation.

There is no argue about Iranians and their origin what I'm concern is Afghans and Tajiks origin (not all of them at least) majority of them) cause they have been mixed with other races like Iranians throughout the eras. It is the hazaras and aimaks of afghanistan who were originally persian farsiwan/tajiks that have mixed with the mongols,tibetans and chinese that they mostly resemble not the general population. It is only a smaller presentage of some afghan tajiks and pashtuns that have asian mongol features but thats only found in a very small amount of numbers compare with the hazaras and aimaks who are all pretty much a persian meditteranean/mongolian mix with mostly mongolian and some other asians. And the turkomens and uzbeks who also have a meditteranean/mongolian ancestery of mostly mongolian ancestery and some other asians. As I have said the pashtuns and tajiks are meditteranean.

The tajiks and pashtuns also have some Indo-Indian/meditteranean and australoid ancestery in certain areas of mostly the south and eastern regions. The mediterranean/Indo-Indian is more common in some tajiks and some pashtuns who they closely resemble their Indo-pakistani neighbers they range from dark Indo-dravidian type to some lighter and light Indian types. In southern Afghanistan you can find some balochs and some tajiks and pashtuns with Indo-indian and some australoid and black origins.
