To those of you who do not like her vocal interpretation during the end of the song, think of it like this: Have you ever been so emotionally involved with something that you just let go? We all love this song because it does that to us and I think Annette feels the same way. I love the fact that she gets into the music, I love Tarja as well, but she was never really got into it like Annette does. She would just sing what was recorded in the studio and not be creative at all. Annette does great!
This is my alltime favorite Nightwish song. Something about Tarja's voice gives me chills every time I hear the chorus, and the feeling is incredible. I'm going to see them perform next weekend and I really wish I could see what it would be like with Tarja on vocals.
This is just absolutely beautiful, even for a crowd shot, oh my gosh is this just amazing! This is one of her best of the old songs in my opinion, up there with her versions of Dark Chest of Wonders, Wishmaster, Wish I Had An Angel, Ever Dream, and Nemo.
As much as I respect Anette, the chorus isn't as powerful in this version. Tarja really captured the soul of the emotion, and that's what made me love the original song so much :/

I always thought that Floor Jansen would've been a more suitable replacement for Tarja since After Forever broke up. Jansen had an incredibly versatile voice. Though I still like Anette, she does a decent job tackling songs that were written out of her vocal range.
Anette is a brilliant singer - the only complaint I have about this version is the improvisation she did at the end of the song. The rest of it was amazing! :O

While you were listeing to pokemon and teletubbies, a lot of us were listening to ightwish when they first started. This song is so hard to sing! This is one of the most epic songs Nightwish has ever made, I understand why they couldn't stop performing such a masterpiece, I agree Tarja's version is better, because obviously is written for her voice, but Anette does a good job here, she's trying really hard and she has only gotten better and better.

@Sixis1989 probably correct in most cases, but I'm a new fan (heard their music for the first time about a year ago) and I definitely prefer Tarja's voice over Anette's. Especially when it comes to Tarja's songs. Anette's voice just sounds so much more ordinary and boring to me. Blaze Bayley was not singing Bruce Dickinson songs, he was singing Iron Maiden songs as a member of Iron Maiden; Ripper Owens was not singing Rob Halford songs, he was singing Judas Priest songs as a member of Judas Priest and Anette is not singing Tarja songs, she is singing Nightwish songs (and damn well too). Two different singers, two different styles but still the same songs. As you said Nightwish fans prefer Nightwish!
I don't really want to talk more about her abilities as a singer and technique. I'll just add - NO stage presence, she didn't really move from that place of the stage (except for the middle part when all of them go backstage) - and this song is maybe the one MOST needed it!!
she doesn't actually have to move around and do dramatic stuff. By simply looking at her I can say that she is feeling what she sings and giving what she feels it out.
Anette has the vocal range of a soprano only she is not classically trained and has a lower range then tarja. This is a fact so please dont argue and just look it op on the internet.
The way she sings th "Time to never hold on loooove" just gives me chills... I used to think that this would be the only old song I wouldn't like Anette to sing (and I'm an Anette lover all the way!),but they way she did it just gives me chills...Imagine that studio recorded,it would be trully amazing even if it didn't reach the epic level of Tarja's version...!
@xphanotmax you are completely wrong..Tarja Turunen is a full lyric soprano and has a vocal range of three octaves.Annette,on the other hand, is a mezzo soprano (meaning one level lower than Tarja).Also Tarja as you said has experience in symphonic music,while Annette not.That's why Nightwish with Tarja is much better..Also in that song..in the start the ''ha ha ha'' is not live music..it has been recording from Tarja and they use it ...

Personally, I don't care about voice type as long as it delivers all the emotions of the songs. Nightwish was and always will be my favorite band because it's the one that brought me completely into Metal 5 years ago. I'm proud to say that I own all of their 6 studio albums and appreciate all the art they put behind each release. I can't wait for their next album! Btw, can't wait to see Tarja live next month too!!

anette has certainly come a long way since she joined the band. I was SO sceptical about her at first (especially considering the early live videos...she wa so much worse than now), I hated the whole idea of replacing Tarja...well, I still HATE this idea but now I am so impressed by Anette and I think there's still hope for Nightwish :)

Seem's there are people arguing about things they do not actually understand... Anette actually IS mezzo-soprano, since her low notes ar not as low as an ordinary contralto would reach. Btw, Tarja also is MEZZO-soprano, not soprano. One educated in music would understand. The only difference is that one is classicaly trained, the other - non-classicaly trained. So, any other mezzo-soprano after special training can sing plainly the same as Tarja. So parting this pop or rock voice is meaningless.

I would never hit the notes Annete does, because my voice simply breaks trying. Anette's voice is higher than mine, so she's a mezzo-soprano, just like Tarja. Soprano is not a god, put that in mind.

Blaze Bayley was not singing Bruce Dickinson songs, he was singing Iron Maiden songs as a member of Iron Maiden; Ripper Owens was not singing Rob Halford songs, he was singing Judas Priest songs as a member of Judas Priest and Anette is not singing Tarja songs, she is singing Nightwish songs (and damn well too). Two different singers, two different styles but still the same songs. As you said Nightwish fans prefer Nightwish!

I don't really want to talk more about her abilities as a singer and technique. I'll just add - NO stage presence, she didn't really move from that place of the stage (except for the middle part when all of them go backstage) - and this song is maybe the one MOST needed it!!

Anette has the vocal range of a soprano only she is not classically trained and has a lower range then tarja. This is a fact so please dont argue and just look it op on the internet.

The way she sings th "Time to never hold on loooove" just gives me chills... I used to think that this would be the only old song I wouldn't like Anette to sing (and I'm an Anette lover all the way!),but they way she did it just gives me chills...Imagine that studio recorded,it would be trully amazing even if it didn't reach the epic level of Tarja's version...!

@xphanotmax you are completely wrong..Tarja Turunen is a full lyric soprano and has a vocal range of three octaves.Annette,on the other hand, is a mezzo soprano (meaning one level lower than Tarja).Also Tarja as you said has experience in symphonic music,while Annette not.That's why Nightwish with Tarja is much better..Also in that song..in the start the ''ha ha ha'' is not live music..it has been recording from Tarja and they use it ...

God! And she didnt want to use her head register... Sure at first she didnt know she could sing so sweet and high at the same time. Sublime version. Almost two years of it and still makes me shiver. Simply love it. Hope she uses this "other voice" in the new album. .

Can't you stop with Tarja people? Nightwish and Tarja Turunen are now Two DIFFERENT bands... since 2007!!! Learn to live in the present and stop bothering us with such irrelevant comparisons =) Also learn to tolerate differences: the world can't stop changing and every decisions are Tuomas and Nightwish's... and they rule! \m/ :)

@NettanLoversArmy Actually since 2005. So Nightwish have split with Tarja, found Anette, made an album, went on a four year world tour and our about to release their second album without Tarja. You're probably right, but Nightwish picking Anette is still such a mind-boggling thing. And you might be tired of the Tarja people, but I'm tired of the people telling other people to stop arguing. Let people debate. It doesn't hurt anyone and maybe we'll come to conclude on something.

Ghost Love Score is my favorite song in the entire universe. Nothing will change that. Be it Tarja or Anette singing. And Anette sang it sooo beautifully here I cried a little. This song is perfection.

Personally, I don't care about voice type as long as it delivers all the emotions of the songs. Nightwish was and always will be my favorite band because it's the one that brought me completely into Metal 5 years ago. I'm proud to say that I own all of their 6 studio albums and appreciate all the art they put behind each release. I can't wait for their next album! Btw, can't wait to see Tarja live next month too!!

anette has certainly come a long way since she joined the band. I was SO sceptical about her at first (especially considering the early live videos...she wa so much worse than now), I hated the whole idea of replacing Tarja...well, I still HATE this idea but now I am so impressed by Anette and I think there's still hope for Nightwish :)

I think, It was really nice atmosphere, but i think Nightwish will down, if the Anette did not learns sing as the tarja. I believe in the impossible the tarja will be back. :-) :-) good designs, nice atmosphere, but sound is worst :-( sorry but this is my opinion.

Seem's there are people arguing about things they do not actually understand... Anette actually IS mezzo-soprano, since her low notes ar not as low as an ordinary contralto would reach. Btw, Tarja also is MEZZO-soprano, not soprano. One educated in music would understand. The only difference is that one is classicaly trained, the other - non-classicaly trained. So, any other mezzo-soprano after special training can sing plainly the same as Tarja. So parting this pop or rock voice is meaningless.

Females HAVE a soprano voice, a mezzo-soprano voice or a contralto voice, is it so hard to perceive? For example I have contralto voice, the lowest of three. I would never hit the notes Annete does, because my voice simply breaks trying. Anette's voice is higher than mine, so she's a mezzo-soprano, just like Tarja. Soprano is not a god, put that in mind.
