Very nice playing! I love Popper's works. But....no offense....this DOES sound better with the piano part. As a frustrated cellist and a fairly good pianist, I'm prejudiced!
Advice from an ex-highschool cello player, do not quit after school is over. Just rent a cello it is cheap. I was not wise and ended up waiting 2 years before I picked it up again - lost a lot of skills.
Popper's High School of Cello Playing was a constant companion of mine in high school and college. What a pain some of that is. Anyway, you don't see this Gavotte performed too often. Thanks.
ah- just one thing though, I noticed you seem to be holding your breath- DONT! that is probably the WORST thing to do. BREATHE- and SMILE and enjoy the piece. Holding breath can cause serious problems and just dampens the beauty of the music
Oh, and I must complement your range of Dynamics. you really seem to be enjoying the Gavotte- I would too :) The shifting is soo good. and I am curious, what cello did you use? :)
gut! das ist Gut! you were great. i liked the Clear Sharp Precise spicatto-ishness. yeah, i agree with ASTORYFAN- I noticed some parts you were rushing a bit. But this Gavotte would tend to. Did you memorize the piece? Your bow is so profoundly amazing- the bounciness yet PRECISE control yet exciting beauty. I am having some trouble with my spiccato- any suggestions? please email me
Simply awesome, I really enjoyed this piece. I've been learning the viola (just beginning) and now I know for sure I want to learn the cello too. ahh heck I wanna do them both at the same time now!
Excellent for the most part. I can see that you are an advanced musician and your talent as well as developed potential are astounding. Just for some minor comments, during this figure, make sure we're keeping some of the rhymthic figures all the same length as there was a tendency to rush some of the repeating sixteenth note themes as well as some of the connecting appoggiaturas. You're doing a fantastic job with the pieces. Continue to keep the music alive.
Lovely! I'm learning this piece and I'm using your video as my "instructor." Thanks for putting this on YouTube.
