@vhd72 This Monogram kit came already with working suspension ( if memory did not fail me ) . While Tamiya kits never give you suspension, other companies often include working suspensions.
@ZACKBAGNALLVIDEO Not hard if you pick a bigger size model & go for only simple basic function. See my vid 'Panzer lV, the simplest RC conversion ( RE-POST) '.
First tank model I ever buit was a 1/32 scale wirbelwind made by Monegram Corp. back in the early 70's. It was a static product but had some features molded into the plastic that suggest that the original intent was for this product to be motorized.
Yeah, can't imagine time of life can slip through my fingers before I can understand the slightest meaning of it. Always ponder over the 'only if I knew' :)
good memories for the most part. Maybe better if I still had that tank :). Most of my old models either broken or gave them away. Fun to see so many others' models on the web these days.
In my opinion, it is hard to compare the design of the two due to different era and different technology at the time. Shilka was developed after WWll and a lot of its proven effectiveness is due to its radar guidance while the WWll Wirbelwind did not have such luxury :) However you are right that they look so similar, with 4 barrels.
My '1/35 Panzer lV simplest RC conversion' video is a tutorial :). If you still find it challenging, I suggest a ' motorized' assembly kit to try hand on first.
There is hardly anything to explain. There are 6 wires from a 2 channel RC board. 2 wires for the battery. 2 wires for each motor. Cut and re-connect.
Soldering is the preferred way although twisting & cover with tape also work in most cases. All RC boards work but some will work better naturally. You will know which ones work better only after you have some failures. This is what we call experience and experience can only be gained through failures :)
Do you remember the 1/32 scale plastic model kit?I built one when I was a kid and I think it was an Airfix kit.Let me know if I am correct, and you did a great job.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
