wow!!!!!!! i cant belive this is posted. The Brothers Grimm stories. i miss my childhood. there were so many creative and interesting shows and movies on during that time.
To the people who made Bearskin: Thanks for haunting my memories for the past 30 or so years. I saw this in the 80's as a kid and it has stayed with me ever since. I can't believe I managed to 'google' 'tv show with man wearing bear skin that makes coins' and I finally found this link. I thought for sure I was crazy and I imagined it.
I saw this in my eighth grade writing class, back in '85. You couldn't show this in schools today: Heaven forbid you acknowledge the biblical ideas of God and the devil. The Koran is ok, though...
Right intention is always more important than the book or collective neurosis of strictly following a religion. Though I am not implying that we should treat any religious text or practice as mundane; they're just for reminder and respect. But I like your point of acknowledging your neighbor, I mean, being a selfless, caring person generally outweighs any other character, eh?
Were these aired in the US in the '80s/early'90s on PBS channels? Do the opening credits have a cartoon man singing, playing a stringed instrument, & wearing a hat like Robin Hood? If so, I think this is the series I watched as a kid. If not, does anyone know the name of the series that I'm trying to describe?
@cbpointblank Hey! I too watched and remembered this show from PBS (esp the Bearskin episode). We also watched Reading Rainbow, Electric Co (loved the episodes with spider-man and the Bloodhound Gang), a show called "Voyage of the Mimi" (starring a young Ben Affleck), and a puppet show called "The Letter People". (although we watched the Letter People in earlier grades).
I have thought of these films all through my life each one had a meaning to tell that I took with me and i was hoping someone had posted the show I would love to purchase a set for my children to watch and learn. Thanks again for the films.
True to the region this takes place, the Devil says "warsh" instead of "wash". My old man pronounces the word that way and we're always contradicting him about it, otherwise he's getting speech therapy.
Yeah i see your point, i guess we all saw it in our childhood but i only saw it once but it was forever stored somewhere deep in my mind and i kept thinking about this scene were he becomes the bearman and that devil with one goat foot.
Mimi and I make our living with the farm and selling these videos from home -- a sort of cottage industry. We have never sold to individuals -- most sales are to schools and public libraries. The shorter films are bundled together, three to a dvd. The dvds descriptions are on the davenportfilms dot com site. For individuals I discount the dvds to twenty dollar (about half the regular price). Just contact us.

Fuck Religion, embrace creativity instead. Religion is just a deadly fact.
Acknowledge your neighbor instead of god or the devil.
If i were religious, i would wanna live by the force of god, not some book altered many times over 1000 years. God did not wrote this. Men did.
The bible & koran should only contain the 10 commandments, and not the words ''western pigs'' or something to indoctrinate children with.
