  • hhee yeah i need a professional edition.

  • For anyone using a version after Adobe Acrobat Pro 8, the Touch up Text tool has moved to View -> Tools -> Content, then right hand of the window "Edit Document Text".

You also need to have the fonts of the pdf on your system to be able to edit it at all.

  • Thanks,

Well, that's it! You convinced me to continue returning Word docs to my clients (I'm a translator) when they send me pdfs. What a pain in....

Luckily, none has ever asked for pdfs. Good clients.

  • Thank you for this video. It has really helped me to learn this trick of changing a PDF.

  • haha!!! what dumbassess!! lol dude!!!!! ok check this.. search readiris torrent in google and booya free n easy!!!!!! edit any text from images or pdfs. thumbs up to make peoples life easier!

  • Thanks! you did a great job demonstrating this!

  • No wonder Steve Jobs hated Adobe products so much. They make the simple complex.

  • Does not work in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9

  • Thx! very usefull!

  • acrobat sucks balls

  • very helpful =)

  • thanks. that was helpful.

  • why the hell is it so complicated to edit text in a simple text only pdf file? I don't understand why I can't just hit delete and type in the correction like every other program in computer history.

  • This has been a big help. Thanks so much. I was wondering if you found another program that might be more efficient. This does get the job done but I want less limitations. Thank you

  • thanks

  • #2. Normally when you scan a document the text is turned to art. If you are using an OCR software it may change it so something MS word recognizes but not Acrobat. Try this...scan the doc as JP, then use the Acrobat OCR feature to change the art text to live text. I have not had a lot of luck with Acrobat OCR but you may find that works.

  • Thats a bit convoluted, but may work. Other than that.. you are screwed if it wont recognized the font.

There may also be a system preference in Acrobat to substitute fonts that the program does not recognize... I'm not sure there but take a look.

  • 1-the font may not edit because it is converted to artwork. Or it may be a font your computer does not recognize and therefore cannot load. If you can try to find the font that you cant change and make sure it is loaded on your PC. If it is something like a graphic headling you could delete the whole thing. create a new headline photoshop or similar...then save it as a PDF from photoshop and then import it into Acrobat (acrobat will import PDF files).

  • Continued..

    2) When I try to use this method on a scanned document, the picture of the document itself remains unchanged, however the cursor still moves as if it were operating in the way your tutorial demonstrated. I think this is because the text I rendered from the OCR software is hiddin, but I cannot find any links in the drop down menus to confirm this. Do you know how to get that text and keep the original formatting?

  • This is a really helpful video, however, I keep running into two problems when I try to edit some PDF's.

    1) After I make sure that the text is editable, I try to use the touchup text tool but I recieve an error message saying "All or part of the selection has no available system font. You cannot add or delete text using the currently selected font." How do I get around that?

The second problem is in my second posting.

  • Great but way out of date... the STUPID folks at Adobe.. have changed it all for Acrobat 10.... can you do one for Adobe 10?

  • Thank you sir, it was really helpful

  • hi....i think if you do it the way i mentioned in the video you should be ok. In other words DO NOT simply highlight the text, hit the delete key and paste in new text. Make sure to keep the first and last letter of the original text on the page, until you type in the new text. then, once the new text is in...use the arrow key to get the cursor over to the first and last letter and backspace/delete them then. That has always worked for me. good luck.

  • RS08, one problem I have is when you edit text and reinsert new text within a paragraph, the line you;re fixing nudges down slightly. So there's an ugly space within that paragraph, how do you fix that?

  • Thank you for the tutorial

  • I've said it before and I will say it again Adobe products stink! This is just one more example of how Adobe make even the most simple task a real pain in the ass. That said - good video!

  • Awesome. Exactly what I needed.

  • so I have a pdf file, gonna do monthly newsletters, should i use a different program then? I was under the impression I could just edit the dang text to the next months info.

  • @ObsceneGreen

Hi...There are lots of ways to do a newsletter but I definitely wouldn't try editing the whole thing in Acrobat. It could turn into a mess. The Ideal program is InDesign, however if that is out of reach, then try PowerPoint or MS Word. Check online and you can find some (PowerPoint or Word) templates, or I can make one for you for a small charge. --general.marketing.service(at)gmail

  • thank you for your work, it helps me a lot.

  • Thanks. Took me a while to find a good tutorial.

  • God adobe acrobat sucks! What a shitty program... why in gods name is it so popular for displaying any reading files?

  • Thank you

  • It was a great tutorial, thank you!
