  • You shouldn't try to imitate a Su-27 if you're not in a Mig-29.

  • Hello switzerland

  • He pulls off a cobra and he doesnt even know it.

  • Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, do it again. I flapped my arms and did that same thing once. I just hit a busload of nuns instead.

  • Woah!! What a sad thing this is. Such a beautiful plane. The pride of my home country, South Africa's air force..damn. :(

  • The planes name is JAS 39 Gripen to be all correct in military terms. It's a multi-role fighter, and that's what makes it one of the best airplanes in this world.

  • crash near church? why the fuck is that relevant? its crashed in a heavily populated area in the middle of Stockholm; would it have been worse if it hit some churchgoers than random people on the street?

  • This pilot have crash 2 times in by this same Swedish Saab fighter airplane. It is not so great plane anyway and ugly too.

  • @timyfin

Hello troll! How are you today?

  • @timyfin It's actually a very capable fighter once they had ironed out the computer glitches. I really like to see little players like Sweden making something this good.

  • this crash was caused by a aft cg problem

  • "..crashed on the central Stockholm island of Långholmen, near the Västerbron bridge, when the aircraft stalled after a slow speed manoeuver during a display over the Stockholm Water Festival. The crash was, like the first one, caused by PIO". There has been three in-service accidents, (this was not one) two are by me considered to have been caused by the pilots and one by the seat ejection handle that had been positioned in a way so it together with the gsuit could cause an unintended ejection.

  • did it stall

  • This isnt so much PIO as it is a system flaw causing whats called a deep stall, which was rather common in the early Gripen program. Like many modern fighters the gripen was designed to be inherently unstable increasing maneuverability while kept under control by the on-board computers. In certain scenarios, like in the video, the computers misinterprents the situations, and while trying to maintain stability and counter-act a stall, causes a deep stall.

  • @okaaaiiiden Are you talking about at 0:03? That is the pilot, because when pilots lose control of their jets, they eject.

  • u ignorant fucks u think he ejected from a perfectly good airplane, did u not see the video clearly the plane had fly by wire problems and did shit it wasn't supposed to and he got the fuck out, more power to him .....ps not a flat spin son more like falling brick !

  • The cause of this crash was PIO (Pilot-Induced Ocilliation) caused by the low air speed.

  • @avskrap dude as can be seen in this vid there is NO ocillation ,the plane pitches up way beond any AOA it is sopposed to "as it is not an SU-27" the aircraft in this vid is the first production saab 39 ,if u watch "Saab JAS-39 Gripen crashing in landing" u will see what a PIO looks like .......ps this one is a test flight before it was produced and its the same pilot

  • @tug82 This is the crash from 1993, at the Vattenfestivalen in Stockholm.

Read the crash report or the article on Wikipedia @ wiki/Accidents_and_incidents_involving_the_JAS_39_Gripen.

  • @Rajika12

    flat spin i think

  • Öland 1676

  • WTH ??? why did he eject ??

  • The choice you make to live when the aircraft does not support life supporting flight characteristics

  • Yes , what do you think ? haha he would die if he stayed , thats impossible to get back the control of .

  • @Rajika12 ..Bad pilot

  • KAMIKAZI!

  • They really should build-in automatic engine shut-off and fuel dump when the ejection button is pushed. Or is this already the case?

  • he tryed to be soviet

  • its not "grippen" its "Gripen"

  • pugachev cobra XD

  • haha

  • yea ur boring u put tht exact comment on the other vid.

  • Damn, you people need a spelling lesson!

  • holy shit, millions of dollars worth plane dumbed like this, wht happened to the pilot, did he lost his job???

  • The pilot and the flight computer system did not synch. The problem really being that it was a Viggen pilot flying the Gripen. Gripen never crashed due to system failure.

  • the planes obviously gona crash like tht the guy did the backflip wrong

  • xD That was the premiur of saab gripen

in sweden that we made ;D

and today its almost the best fighter in the world

  • Immature Fly-by-wire software, it takes time to find the bugs in the code & fix them. I'm sure that Saab got it ironed out eventually.

  • Did he try to do Pugachev's Cobra??

  • no they dident. The aircraft wasent done but the boss whanted to show it and the computer failed. You know Gripen is like an arrow that u try to shot backwards so it want to turn around and have the back in the front.

  • FYI: This is in the middle of downtown Stockholm on August 8th, 1993. A festival was going on in the city, and tens of thousands of people were out watching the flight show.

Spellcheck: The plane is called Saab 39 Gripen.

  • Spellcheck: And alos JAS. Its a muliterole plane and also swingrole plane.

  • who ever shot that video was bloody lucky not to have been right under that when it came down.

  • most of the planes that are created now are aerodynamicaly unstabel. like the F-16 and the Typhoon. the fly-by-wire manages all that.

  • That concept is not original, and is used by every extremely agile fighter in the world today. To be truely agile the aircraft has to be on the razor's edge of flight. Extremely stable aircraft are stable, but they can't dogfight.

  • You have got it pretty much soreted there guys. ALL new fast jets are deisgned to be aerodynamically unstable to give them greater agility in the air. With the grippen being a canard as well this also greatly improves the agility. If planes were stable and not unstable then they would just be, well un-manuvarable like ww1 style aircraft. You would also need to input 1000+ movements per second to keep it in the air.

  • @kickZtailout this was a jazz that crashed 15 years ago during a show in Stockholm , Sweden.

  • i am surprised that the church and two other builings didn't collapse like the trade center.

  • ... means in the end it was a software failure ...

  • haha its a saab grippen and no the pilot was doing a low altitude dog fight exercise when his aircraft flew threw the others wake, the loss of air craft responsiveness eg stall, at low alltitude caused the pilot assist program to activate emergency procedure's and the pilot complied(the eject) , and hence the plane dropped out of the sky ,cool footage thou.

  • the pitot is used for measures.. and the pilot was´nt making a Cobra! He just missed pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del to reboot the SA ;Þ

  • the pitot was trying to do cobra???

  • It's a JAS 39 Gripen - not a JA 37 Viggen.

  • @ApocaIypse...I was a undercover Viggen

  • sorry mate but thats not eurofighter , weve only crashed two and both of them were on m.o.d land

  • what kind of fighter is it? ill change the name and description if its another type of fighter.
