Really? I never thought a party could copyright specific values, but if you believe so, I suggest you re-read that "brainwash" sentence of yours a few more times. Something might come to mind.

Democrats stand for peace and love, republicans hate everyone who doesn't share their views, labels them terrorists, and says they hate America. The sad thing is many people bought it. If you don't think that is brainwashing...you need to take a look at what is going on around you!
I agree with your basic premise. The current administration is indeed terrible and strikingly incompetent. McCain certainly sounds like another 4 years of Bush. The point I am trying to make is that words like "love","hate","peace", etc. overgeneralize far too complex issues. They does not represent the facts. If you were to look at those parties policies on various issues, then you would be able to make an informed choice. Fortunately, this election that happens to be a Democrat - Obama.
People teach Christian values to little kids and that is complex, right? Teaching a child not to hate people for being gay, or teaching a child not to judge people, teaching a child to help the poor...these are in line with democratic values. In this day and age, Republicans have proven to be in line with Bush until the last year or so. Why people voted for someone who needs hooked on phonics, I'll never know. Life is complex. I guess I'm more of a live and let live person aka democrat!
Yes, they do teach "Christian" values to kids, and I am against that. But teaching "Democratic" values is no different. Brainwashing kids to believe that Democrats are good or God exists is the same methodology used for a different belief. So while I might share the views of a particular political party or religion, I'll never force my kids to do the same. Also, educating a kind, intelligent and tolerant person ARE NOT Democratic or Republican values. They are human values.
