@xanafanadu The Lion King is every bit of a masterpiece as Fantasia! People don't care about classical music these days, so they'd rather re-release something that is going to make millions, all they care about is MONEY! I Love Fantasia though, it wouldn't make that much, unfortunately. But don't dis my movie. I'd say they shouldn't bother promoting crap like Mars Needs Moms!
Of course there are cultural nuances to the different cartoons - Tchaikovsky wrote it to reflect the music of different parts of the world. How else would you reflect the Chinese dance or the Russian dance - or the Arabian dance?
@Hazy804 I don't think it's undertones. The piece is CALLED "Chinese Dance". They used Tchaikovsky's titles and intention of reflecting cultures into account when animating the sequence. It makes perfect sense and (in this case) I don't find it one bit offensive.
I liked this as a child, and I love this as an adult :)

The mushroom segment is based off of the Nutcracker piece "Tea"
The little mushroom characters are paying tribute to the Chinese origins of the drink, in their own special, racist 1940's Disney way.

if disney's gonna rerelease any movie, it should be this, not the lion king.

My brother and I always used to dance to the Russian flowers part. :) It's such a good movie, if only Disney still did animation like this!

more racial undertones the mushrooms are supposed to be asian (slanted eye single braid large circular flat hats)

the fish are Arabic and the dandelions are Russian but you didn't feel the need to comment on that.

@altarboy4sin The fish are "Arab." Arabic is the language.
