The cube isn't the 'proper' way, really. There are tool sets designed specifically for this sort of thing, the cube is just a cheap way to handle most rear calipers.
And I don't know why you'd spend the money for a cube on a tool truck when it can be bought at HF, Sears, etc for a few bucks. I spend my fair share with SO and Cornwell, but I'd never get a cube from them.
the way you are supposed to compress the calliper is you are supposed to use the tool called the cube it can be bought off any tool truck
