It's 1983 they were promoting Aural Sculpture and I am old enough to remember watching it first time round on the tube. Have to say this was not the best rendition of WWTW they did. The mix was tinny back in 1983 hasn't got better with age. Still, good to see this stuff 30 almost years on.
Thank you for posting this. Arguments aside - it was 1983, the poster made a typo, easy thing to do.
Keninblack thinks there must be more footage available. Found European Female on here (many thanks for posting), but I'm train spottery - you don't ship Dave's full keyboard setup to do The Tube for 2 songs unless there is more......
My least favorite era of the many phases of The Stranglers. I mean if they only did this kind of music they never would have lasted as long as they have and would not be considered such bad asses in my book!
Hugh said this was one of his favourite songs. However, this could not have been 1993 as Deltaturbo has mistakenly said. Hugh had long left the band by then and the Tube had been off the air for many years by '93.
aye m8 ure real intelligent.. ahve just came home from the moon man.. just got ure message like... ehhhm ah think ure a robot.. or maybe a root vegetable? or mineral... answers on a postcard please? anyhows take care .... monthemongs :)
If a reunion is going to happen it'll have to be sooner rather than later as I'm not sure Jet will be able to keep going much longer sadly.
But even if a reunion never happens I just wish they'd all just bury the fucking hatchet. The hostility between both camps is incredibly annoying. Part of what made the Stranglers story intriguing was the siege mentality they all seemed to have together in the early days...the way it's turned between Hugh and the others is just sad.
Great vid although it can't have been 1993 seeing as Hugh is still in the band (although I wish he was still in the band)...I suspect that is just a typo on your part though.
Full marks for posting this anyway, brilliant performance.
PERSONALLY I DONT GIVE A DAMN WHAT YEAR IT WAS!!! AM TOO BUSY OGGLING JJ LOL.

1993 my foot! Obviously not a stranglers fan. You ought to have known that Hugh Cornwall left in 1990.

Hugh can't stand being around JJ Burnel so a reunion will never happen. It's probably the reason he left in the first place.
