I taught at Heart Butte from 1998-1999 and, it was an absolutely messed up school academically wise.Senior basketball players generally would quit school once the season was over. Taking State tests, the school would usually have those students who would normally mess around on tests or would do poorly anyway or were resource students go do something else while the rest of the student body was taking this REQUIRED test. I can't really say I was the best teacher anyway.

These boys from HB and the "Creek" really set the bar for the younger ones coming up "it's state or nothin" nowadays. The R-E-Z wasn't the same anymore for awhile! What I remember most though was even after LD lost to HB all the Natives stayed and cheered on Heart Butte! that was the shit! To me that LD v HB game was the state championship as far as Iam concerned. (who took 2nd?) Those were great days and I look back and we all witnessed something extraordinary!

wow, great video. I was at the game it was amazing. I have never seen so many native americans in one place. we drove there all the way from Fort Peck Reservation. Great game and atmosphere!
