@Haverkampp that means you need to go to your BIOS settings and change your SATA/IDE mode to "ACHI" mode.

I build custom PC's for customers, I never buy garbage brands like HP, Compaq, Dell, Sony, Gateware etc... Thats probably what you had cause you don't know better. People that buy branded pc's or laptops from BestBuy or similar are not common knowledgeable & are easily fooled into buying something useless. @assaultmaster54 They are selling Hackintosh on eBay all the time. I think it's legit. My ASUS laptop has almost the same exact mobo as the Macbook Pro. Am wondering if I could save a few grand. Will probably be some kind of problem down the line somewhere though I'm sure.

@Whyrendog How is there going to be a problem down the line? OS is just an OS not hardware problematic.... if you have the harware, meaning non AMD then you can install OS. Apple states that their OS can only be install on Apple 'Branded" machine, meaning the don't own Intel, or the ram, nor the HDD brands... you just slap an "apple' logo on your machine & u just 'branded' your Laptop as an Apple brand!

Since you do have an Asus "world's best brand" laptop like i do, you have a 99% chance of installing a clean fresh SL install on your laptop. I have a kick ass Asus G2S gaming laptop & installed SL retail, updated to 10.6.4 & running smoothly & stable. With the XGA LCD screen that my Asus has, the resolution is amazing! My Asus with SL runs way better, faster, & more reliable than any Macbook Pro cause my hardware is top of the line, not some no name brand like most Apple uses on their junk!

@webvillage33 i have a question? when the install finished, did you had to take out the disk or not? i tried to install the mac os x universal disk and i just didnt understand the customize part where you select your audio drivers,kernel,audio and such. from there i didnt have those options. i gave me a few options to customize. like smbio resolver, snow bootloader and a intel somethin which idont remember? why my options are diffrent? could the drivers work i do have a toshiba f45-av411.
